Al hit with Ray Guy in 1973 and figured he could do it again with a kicker. Just a hunch.chucker wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 6:32 am Seabass alternated between years where he was good (not great) and years where he cost the team wins. IMO sticking with Seabass cost the team overall over time. He should have been cut but his draft position saved his job.

Sorry...... it seems like "draft a kicker" can be it's own thread. I can't resist this debate.
I'll stop with that shit.
Go Mendoza - kick ass and stay healthy.

It's a moot point because he's not entering the draft and it doesn't concern us, but the original argument was "don't ever draft a Kicker"Attyla wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 6:32 am We won 2 games. We need football players. Sign a kicker out of free agency and use the picks for football players. Generational talent in a kicker does not sway me on this.

In essence, I agree as a whole. You shouldn’t draft a kicker. I was just commenting if that kid was coming out and Carlson is a free agent. I would certainly consider him on day three.chucker wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 6:35 am Sorry...... it seems like "draft a kicker" can be it's own thread. I can't resist this debate.

I'm bowing out, because I've said what I want to say and I'd rather this thread be about the CFP, but that's what I said and I stand by it. I do find it an interesting debate for a standalone thread though. We haven't had a good Seabass debate for a while.rcraider wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 6:36 am It's a moot point because he's not entering the draft and it doesn't concern us, but the original argument was "don't ever draft a Kicker"

Should they have called PI ?haji81872 wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 8:57 pm Beck is 23 soon to be 24. He played himself back into the draft which is better than where he was last year.
Enjoyed how the refs got whistle happy down the stretch then all if a sudden lost them on a clear PI call at the end.

Sure looks like a hail Mary jump ball to me... There are 5 players on that spot, 2 being receivers. Clearly a desperation play

Things to watch for tonight from both QBs since it is not a given we go with Mendoza (we are going with Mendoza)
1. Presnap adjustments are going to be interesting. Both defenses like gamesmanship and masking the coverage can be tricky to see for young QBs
2. Center/QB exchange. Neither works under center much but that does not mean this is a lightly observed thing
3. Ball placement. Both had INT issues their first game (the Mendoza pick was ugly) so let's see some correction there
4. Cut and run and or designed runs. Are they able to get down to avoid hits, do they run with confidence?
5. What levels to they climb in their passes. Can either throw the clean ball to the next level?
6. Clock management. This will be key if the game is close
7. Adjustments. We saw that with Mendoza in his last game, not so much with Moore
Just a few of the things I am watching for tonight. Yes, lower body and footwork are important, but that is basic stuff. We know both will have issues there but that is a college player issue across the board. I want both to audition for a NFL team tonight.

The ref for the broadcast said both battling and when that’s the case they prefer to leave it alone. It was a last second play desperation throw. I think leaving it be was fine.

I hope Mendoza has a great game and I wouldn't be upset if Indiana loses. He must stay healthy.

Saw this thread and the OP date of a Saturday and panicked because I could have sworn it was Friday.
Took me a few seconds to realize this thread is months old
