Fire Pete Carroll
I didn't see a thread yet, I wanted Pete to be able to stay a few years to rebuild us back, but it is clear to me that he is clueless on how to fix what is broken. We have made the same mistakes every week, with no corrections. He has to go! Thoughts?

Between Gus Bradley, Pat Graham and Pete Carroll I don't wanna see the fuckin cover 3 ever again. "Bend but don't break" bullshit at best

I grew to like the cover 3. It makes the most sense. I think Graham, who is a 3-4 coach, being asked to run a 4-3 is the problem.Goodtimes333 wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:18 pm Between Gus Bradley, Pat Graham and Pete Carroll I don't wanna see the fuckin cover 3 ever again. Cover 3 is more suited to college football where teams run a bunch of RPO. The NFL has some of that but not near as much. Cover 2 is more suited to the NFL because you attack the more downfield attack of the NFLerickench wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:34 pm I grew to like the cover 3. It makes the most sense. But I am partial to the 3-4 scheme with two high shells and throwing in Cover 4 shells that can effectively put pressure on the passing game. We do not have the personnel to run that but Vance runs something similar to this and he has been very effective at it.
But teams that are good defensively throw out a wide variety of looks. 3-4, 4-3, cover shells, man on man etc. It is not so much your core set, it is about confusing the offense. We have not had very good personnel so no matter what we throw out there, we are just in over our head.

I was a big fan of the 3-4 because the Raiders won their first superbowl utilizing a 3-4. But now the cover 3 makes more sense because it is more balanced and it utilizes the personnel better. Instead of a 7 man front you have an 8 man to guard against the run. The 3 defbacks are better in coverage than the linebackers so they should cover more ground i.e. 1/3 when in zone coverage. The linebackers only cover 1/4. All that's needed is a Nascar D-line to go with it and 2 big inside linebackers who never miss a tackle.
