Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

If they can stay on the field. Last year was not good in that regard16 to 88 wrote: Fri Jan 16, 2026 4:32 pm Fairly confident Miller and JPJ are cemented along the line. If Grant or some other lineman is considered to be a go then that leaves two positions?

We need a lot. Besides many run blockers, we need a deep threat WR. Teams kept their D's to close to the LOS (for obvious reasons) to make optimal use of Jeanty. The beauty of hopefully having a franchise QB on a rookie deal is that we can build the team.Attyla wrote: Fri Jan 16, 2026 9:21 am Just my opinion but we are going to need run blockers. Mendoza is at his best when the run game is strong. Jeanty will also benefit from that move.

As mentioned above fullback isn’t much of a thing these days but I wonder with the right OC is it worth looking at in the later rounds of the draft.
I say this because teams are valuing RBs again. Now will we see the return of the I formation? Doubt it, but there is some merit of the idea of adding a FB especially a pass catching one.
Normally a TE fulfills the role these days but I prefer both Mayer and Bowers are in the pattern past the LOS.

You can still line a Bowers/Mayer in the backfield as a back, send them out on routes. This is where OCs get creative in getting mismatches, taking advantage of young defenses. I have seen WRs lined up in the backfield, catching a pass, 15-20 yards down field. It's a wrinkle we can use, given Bowers speed. Now if we have short yardage, I ain't putting Bowers in the backfield, maybe the 3rd TE or a legit FB.Willmark wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 4:55 am As mentioned above fullback isn’t much of a thing these days but I wonder with the right OC is it worth looking at in the later rounds of the draft.

Tre Tucker & Donte Thornton. Thornton needs seasoning but he's gonna be a monster if he develops. Tucker is a proven deep threatRI RAIDER wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 4:32 am We need a lot. I hope Thornton is that guy, but its early. Tre is one of the best in the league (top 20) in yards after catch. We need a real #1 WR who is a deep threat.Goodtimes333 wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:00 am Tre Tucker & Donte Thornton. Thornton needs seasoning but he's gonna be a monster if he develops. I like Bech better than them both. I think he'll be good for Mendoza. Give me Sarratt, sign Alec Pierce and I'm good with our WR core.RI RAIDER wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:14 am I hope Thornton is that guy, but its early. Love Pierce but FA receiver money is ridiculous. He might get 30 mil a year. 25 is about right unless a bidding war happens. That would be a quarter of the cap spaceBoKnows81 wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:19 am I like Bech better than them both. I think he'll be good for Mendoza. I love Pierce and have been saying so. Right age, hasn't reached his prime, HUGE long ball threat, and best of all is an incredible and willing blocker.

I don't care. O-line and WR are huge positions of need that are crucial Mendoza's development. I've always said that good teams with a competent front office can get creative with the money.Goodtimes333 wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:39 am Love Pierce but FA receiver money is ridiculous. I've been on the trade Maxx bandwagon, but if he is not traded would signing Trey Hendrickson be on the radar after the oline and possibly wideout? Or would interior D line be more an urgent need?
My mantra has been protect our QB and destroy theirs....

Yeah he doesn't want to leave Tampa and they want him. I see him signing a final contract in Tampa.
