Two very different approaches to “social media”. I certainly prefer one’s over the other. Let’s Go Mendo. :pirateflag:

I think we're better off keeping Maxx.

We can definitely afford him, he's in his prime, and does everything you could possibly want on the field.

He's not even a massive distraction/drama off the field. Most of it is media fueled rumors, which always happens to elite players on bad teams. It's all overblown as hell.

The only way I'd trade him is if he wants out, which we don't know for certain until we hear from him or the team.

Logically speaking, this is the best shot Maxx has had in his career. Possible franchise Qb, a new HC that is leading his team to the Superbowl this weekend and we have plenty of cap space and draft picks.
It’s possible this could turn around in the next few years, mirroring his peak playing time. I don’t care either way, but it’s tough giving up a known, quality asset at a position that’s extremely hard to fill with his effort and production.
Maybe he’s rethinking after he blew off some steam at the end of the season. Time will tell, but I have to believe Kubiak was involved in conversations about this very subject during his interview.

Oft injured narcissist? Maxx has started 104 out of 110 games. This season notwithstanding, he has been very durable and seldom comes off the field.

That's right-most reporters should be taken with a grain of salt hence my previous post about not getting to excited about emotional rants on social media. I get it, you do not like him, but don't warp reality.

I understand how Max turns people off with all his social media weirdness and games. His basketball video or whatever has turned folks off. However……..

Putting all emotion aside for a minute and just think logically, is it agreed Max is a top 3 player on the Raiders defense? Is he a cancer in the locker room? Does he make “business decisions” when on the field?

If the answer is no, then if the Raiders trade him, they better have an equal or better replacement plan.

As we know, “Good pass rushers are hard to find”.

Also, some believe Kubiak may or may not care about Max and the defense but whoever we interview for DC sure might care about what tools they have in the tool box on defense.

They are, and show me an All Pro that doesn't have a bit a diva in them? Maxx seems to be a team guy. He isn't getting in his coaches grill on the sidelines like Travis Swift or pulling DK Metcalf like antics. He works his ass off on the field which is something because it's been mostly for a losing cause.

My guess is that he will be onboard with the Kubiak regime and if we can land the Schwartz, Crosby will be playing for a very good defensive coordinator.

Maxx is a good run stopper, he is a pretty average pass rusher.

Watching Maxx blow up run plays routinely is pure art. If you add up the yardage he sets back offenses on run plays alone with tackles for loss it probably nearly matches a lot of guys sack yardage loss numbers. He's not an elite pass rusher in my opinion, but he's still also a very good pass rusher regardless. Nothing but respect for Maxx

A little statistical perspective. Average sacks per season (career):

Warren Sapp 7.42
Greg Townsend 8.8
Khalil Mack 9.41
Michael Strahand 9.43
Maxx Crosby 9.92

....I can see both sides with Maxx, and could live with either with the right return on a trade, but the guy is full time, without question, and I can't imagine that would change if we actually start competing consistently and chalking up some wins, and with actual promise for the coming years, as is not far fetched, from what I see.
...I also think that if our high priced dt known for providing push up the middle didn't weird out, (not that is anything wrong with that...) we would have seen Maxx really flourish, and that would have had a significant effect on the numbers people are referring to when trying to compare his and a recent trade comp, Parsons, trade value wise.
...something this past year that struck me also, is when one of our free against linebackers praised his run defense, which isn't a given by any stretch with a guy viewed as a 'pass rusher'....

And consider the framework each of these guys work in. Who does a defense gameplan for when playing the Raiders defense? There's no one besides Maxx that's above average.

You can imagine a world where Maxx leads the league in most stats if he had teammates named Cam Heyward and Alex Highsmith.
TJ Watt is no doubt a great player, let’s see what kind of stats he puts up on the Raiders D over a career. I’m pretty sure football execs play every angle when evaluating players.
