The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft
Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

I don't agree.BoKnows81 wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 10:33 am Stop. I talk as a fan. Which is what I am. Everyone on this forum talks the same exact way. New coaches dont get intrigued with guys they didnt draft. Unless they are an absolute superstar, they want guys that fit their system. Quit being weird.
When you talk as a fan, yeah the 25 years matter.
When you want to act like a gm because hey it's fun, then you can't count those years, because if you were GM now you couldn't.
We all go in and out of these two states as we comment.

Playing GM it isn't wise basing decisions on the past 25 years, 24 of them you weren't there.
Leave Spytek's time out of this, you can only go so far back to where the past would still matter.

Most likely we would have failed after a few years max.
We get the benefit of it's not our necks and hindsight.

You're speaking from hindsight, and 20 years ago you would not have been privy to that hindsight.

Imagine giving our GMs from the last 25 years any credit in regards to making picks...

Don't know why you cannot grasp the simple fact that 20 years ago you would be on a learning curve to start out with and would have ZERO hindsight to go from.
In the last 20-25 years ago you're talking about 150 or so draft picks, besides there's a lot more than just drafting involved with running a team.
You can sit on your soap box all you want and claim you can do something that professionals cannot. But there's a very good reason why others with actual experience are hired to do the job and wannabe's like us us are hiding behind our keyboards spewing little more than false bravado.

2. all you need is a cap guy and good scouts
3. how about getting a franchise qb instead of 20 yrs of retread qbs
4. hiring a good head coach, a good oc, a good dc
150 picks how many were good/great vs crap ??? there is a reason why we have sucked for over 20 yrs the talent sucked, the coaching sucked
anyone of us could have thrown dart and done better for the draft
the business end was handled like a g by mark
ps ive run businesses successfully and sold businesses for lots of money...n.f.l football is a business ...

If it is the case that drafting good players is that easy why have only one third of GM’s been with there teams 5 years plusmstrbass2000 wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 4:35 pm 1.how about the ability to actually spot talent

If running a business well makes you good at drafting them why the hell haven’t we went after Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk to help us out
Zuhn over Pregnon was the right choice but alot of fans on here didn't think that but choosing a zone guy over a power guy was a no brainer in Kubiak’s system.
Fans fail way more than GM’s do but we don't get held to task for our opinion cause no one remembers them much year after year unless it is a completely wild outrageous statement
