The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft
Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

I don't think you understand what I was referring to...I was actually agreeing with you.mstrbass2000 wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 7:18 am christian mccaffrey was injury prone, then he wasn't for a few yrs, got injured again and the next yr was on fire playing the most he ever played before for the niners...all players whom suffer injuries look for ways to mitigate injuries, they are professionals and wanna play, make an impact im sure our guys are the same (diet, stretching, work load management ect ect)

The 2 years before last he was hurt the whole time. Often a game time decision. A lot of times he limped out there because we had nobody else.He rushed back too early . I know everyone in the NFL plays hurt to a degree but it really affected his play.Raidernation1979 wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 8:57 am Before last year Miller missed 7 games total in 7 years. 5 of those 7 years he played full seasons. I wouldn’t say he’s injury prone. Last year sucked but it’s football and injuries happen
It's been 3 seasons since he has been at full strength. Every year it's " Miller is finally healthy". Hopefully he still can play at a high level

THIS! Spot on. Holy shit, some folks have short term memory. There was this LT named Andrew Whitworth who the Bengals thought was done. They let him walk & he goes to the Rams and helps them win a super bowl years later against.. the Bengals. Kolton is a blessing to the Raiders. The two most important positions are in great hands with LT & CRaidernation1979 wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 8:57 am Before last year Miller missed 7 games total in 7 years. 5 of those 7 years he played full seasons. Thing is, I don't believe in luck or karma or being due. I believe what I see. If you buy into some cosmic power that governs balance than we are due a shit load due to the last 35 years or so. But I don't buy into that. Hope is a different thing, but it still does not create balance from imbalance. Kolton will either stay healthy or he will not. I buy into what happens, not what should happen in a fair world.
For what it is worth, I think Kolton needs to be healthy for us to have a successful offense. Same with Powers Johnson. We are very thin on the Oline and our depth is pretty crap. It would be great for both those guys to play 17 games this year. But that is as far as I can go. McCaffrey is a perfect example of my feelings. He was injury prone until he was not. But then again, who knows what he is this season. His father was a bronco and a guy I really disliked. I don't want him to succeed but my wanting something is meaningless.

ps i dont think a player needs to play 17 full games to prove he isn;t injury prone, player twist ankles and pull muscles, tweak things all the time and miss a few games but they finish the season

Of your statements, the only one I get is luck. Karma is bullshit, there is no cosmic scorecard balancing the scales. Being due, that is revisionist bullshit. As for McCaffrey, he was healthy, then he was not and lately has been healthy. Those are just facts, they have nothing to do with anything but health, no karma, no being due. Maybe some luck but that is it.mstrbass2000 wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 2:04 pm thing is i do believe in luck, karma and being due because i have have seen it many many times in life, i just gave you an example christian maccaffrey , as for kolton he wasn't always injury prone and im sure he is doing everything in his power to mitigate injuries

Maybe we will hear some noice now that it is June 1st. I can not imagine we are done with this line. How about we make a play for the Dolphins Jackson. Dolphins use the same system we will use and he could be on the move.

Contact powskiI read Grant is getting more time with 1s at RT. I know some want to keep him a pure LT, Miller's heir, but Im all about him starting at RT if his football skills is catching up with his athleticism and strength. Im more worried about finding the best RT to start this year than Miller insurance. I think he's got a high ceiling and thus would be my favorite if I had to pick one to make it.
That being said, I take every rave review at this point (no pads, etc) with a giant grain of salt. I also heard Burford looked good and thought Im sure he does right now, hes got experience and likely to look better in these no pads/tackling run throughs.

He also has not played RT in the NFL. I am not saying he could not do it. This is why I mentioned Jackson. Same system and is a RT (with experience at LT and LG). Jackson is nothing great but an improvement since the bar is low (he may be as good as it gets this time of year).Attyla wrote: Mon Jun 01, 2026 4:31 am 32 years old, wants a big final payday. Taylor Decker has only played LT in the NFL. That's not a a plug and play RT. You're better off coaching up a young guy like Grant to shift to RT than trying to change a guy who's been at LT in the NFL for that long. I doubt Decker would have any interest in signing anywhere for RT anyway - not because of ego or money, but because he would want to be in a position to succeed.

Kolton Miller (31 in September) missed four games in late 2023 with a shoulder injury that required offseason surgery.
He played every game in 2024.
In 2025 when a high ankle sprain and hairline fracture in Week 4 sidelined him for the final 13 games of the year.
He has returned to full health for the Raiders' 2026 offseason workouts.

naw, i disagree karma is real, ive seen it on a large scale happen to very powerful individuals ...they are not so happy these daysAttyla wrote: Mon Jun 01, 2026 3:41 am Of your statements, the only one I get is luck. kolton miller is mccaffrey ...he was healthy for most of his career, then got injured a few yrs and got called injury prone, came back for back to back yrs of healthy, injured again and healthy last yr again ...is mccaffrey injury prone or not and lets not forget the niners and mccaffrey changed diets, worked on his overall health/stretching/lifestyle/managed reps, im sure kolton miller is doing all the something's to mitigate injuries...sometimes you go thru a few yrs of bad luck ...some good luck is due
