The Bucs are a tightwad organization. Not quite like the Bengals/Chargers but they are nonetheless. It helps that Baker is fed up also. They will be f[raiders_icon]cked if they don't get Bakers contract handled. They simply won't have a top 10 pick next off-season and no outlet to get a QB. They can manipulate the cap as any team can, but it'll be hard to keep both Baker and Vita. Make the call Spy!

That can change quickly but until that happens Im ignoring it, not invested either way yet, but will monitor how his situation goes there. Baker playing this year and negotiating after season.

I'm not really up to date with TBs spending limitations but between Baker and Vita, the Bucs may be using the idea of only keeping one of them...so if they sign Baker, Vita may either get traded or possibly allowed to walk after this season and vice versa if they sign Vita.

Either way I don't see Vita leaving this year. They will have to make a decision next offseason. Baker has them over a barrel. He isnt that good but they have limited options. They won't be in a position to draft his replacement. They will have to over pay him and he knows it. I love watching Baker play he is fun to watch for sure. But he is an interception machine and does it at the worst possible times. I don't see them winning anything with him but will have to blow it up if he leavesraidersince63 wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 5:45 pm I'm not really up to date with TBs spending limitations but between Baker and Vita, the Bucs may be using the idea of only keeping one of them...so if they sign Baker, Vita may either get traded or possibly allowed to walk after this season and vice versa if they sign Vita.

Seems in that division the Bucs have a chance to win it and make the playoffs. All they would need is lightning in a bottle. But they would have a chance with Baker.
Imagine drafting McCarthy type and being stuck in that situation. Sure you could hit on a decent QB but also go south. A team could do much worse then Baker and if he was a free agent this year many teams would try and sign him. The Browns were foolish for letting him walk.

Older Veteran players are not the answer
Spyboy must continue the D purge of all past regime players which we saw several Thursday night
Quality young FA and draft picks going forward which we saw this offseason

Vea would give the raiders a solid NT….a good NT is hard to find in today NFL….right now I think the raiders defense is going to end up being pretty bad in the stat department; but I think Vea could push the raiders to the middle of the pack in stat department….raiders72 wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 11:05 pm Older Veteran players are not the answer

Only problem is that the Bucs want something for him and it going to be costly like a 2nd rounder

As much as we all would love having Vea to stabilize the D and wreak havoc on apposing offences from the middle of Raiders D line. Its not going to happen. Trade price would be too steep, plus his salary would be too high.
Now if he were to make it to FA next year, which is highly unlikely, I can see Sky and Kubiak making a strong push to sign him, but again that it unlikely as the Bucs will probably pay him or trade him to someone willing to pay the price.

As cool as it would be to have vea in silver and black, I'll pass. It will cost too much for a player that will age out sooner rather than later.. I agree he would definitely help this defense but, IMO it isn't worth the cost for a team that is not going to the playoffs (even with him), let alone making a run for the SB.SuperRaider wrote: Sat Aug 15, 2026 12:23 am Vea would give the raiders a solid NT….a good NT is hard to find in today NFL….right now I think the raiders defense is going to end up being pretty bad in the stat department; but I think Vea could push the raiders to the middle of the pack in stat department….

Vea has probably 2 years of prime ability followed by 2 years very good ability. He's 31. A 3-4 year deal would be fine.
If the game plan works the team could be on a playoff run in his years 2-4.
How many dud draft picks have we had over the years? a 2nd or 3rd isn't a big deal.
He is pretty much a guaranteed home run on a huge position of need.
Him and Maxx would be worth the price of admission.
You win in the trenchs. He is the trench...
