The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft

Unread post by erickench »

Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year. :cuss:

I never watched any film of him when he was a raven. Maybe he is the product of the how good the rest of the ravens offensive line is? Anyone watched film of him when he was a raven?
No I didnt but his reputation was more about his good technique and high IQ and less his about him being a mauler. Many also believe a QB like Jackson makes an average Oline look better because of his style of play. As another stated, he is likely overpaid but it was the correct move at the time.

If Zuhn is starting, we might as well have kept Parham.

Zuhn was a an elite pass blocker in college. Run blocking is not really his forte. He would make a good replacement for S. Burford eventually.

It looks like, thankfully, you and we are getting our wish on this one. Looking forward to see what Zuhn does starting. Has anyone heard where? LG? RG? RT?

So he's taking JPJ's spot? and that piece of dung that's been playing LG is still there? let there be a revelation and JPJ is being moved to LG if Zuhn is starting at RG this week...

So if we are trying Zuhn at RG, I would hope we are trying someone to take over for Burford (someone, anyone).

The legend of JPJ as a mauler is much bigger than the reality.

Had high hopes for him but he just can't stay healthy. Time to move on.

Yes but maybe we need to resurrect the line of Munford, Meredith, Parham, Van Roten and Eluemunor because we scored 63 on the Chargers the one time we rolled that group out there.

I think I was as high on JPJ as anyone, but the inconsistency is unacceptable at this point. He does have reps where he flashes brilliance and others where he is grabbing air. Add the injuries and I'm honestly at the point where I think the roster spot will be better used on someone else in 2027.
