Plus with a 4th round pick if we get 3 to 4 seasons of starter caliber football out of him it will be worth it.
THIS ^^^ Glad there are those who get it !heavyD wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 6:47 am It's not about outsmarting and more risk tolerance. He was going to get drafted by a team and it was only a matter of when.
raiders seem to have a good grasp of his condition, wouldn't be surprised if the raiders were one of the teams leaking stuff to the news to push him lower in the draftchucker wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 9:30 am I wouldn't call it a no-brainer pick. It was a no-brainer to pick him at some point in the draft - it's a carefully calculated risk when deciding how high to pick him. In the end, the Raiders chose to draft him higher than any other team and only time will tell whether that pays off. I like the selection...... but I also don't know or understand all the medical facts. Even the teams with all the info don't know anything for sure.
It was a calculated gamble. But definitely worth the riskBoKnows81 wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 12:38 pm No brainer pick LMAO. If he never plays a down in the NFL, would it still be a no brainer pick? Raider-homerism at its finest smh.
From the locked on Raiders podcast Qs report was that McCoy was on the field covering WR and that his game was as good as advertised. He said he was mirroring his assignment in coverage, the report was very positive.KillerRaider30 wrote: Thu May 21, 2026 2:21 pm We'll talk when hes done fielding punts and kick offs at practice.
Exactly lol...the more he gets talked up the more the chances of it going horribly south go up!!!!BoKnows81 wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 12:38 pm No brainer pick LMAO. If he never plays a down in the NFL, would it still be a no brainer pick? Raider-homerism at its finest smh.
Unfortunately, we won't know if it was worth the risk until he steps on the football field for regular season games. Then, he actually has to perform.
Wrong. The risk is there yes. But worth the risk also yes because of the talent level he has. We've pissed away higher draft picks on more risky players. Including a first on a guy whose heart basically exploded. If there was no risk he wouldn't have been there when we picked in the second. So yes. Worth the risk in my opinionBoKnows81 wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 1:28 pm Unfortunately, we won't know if it was worth the risk until he steps on the football field for regular season games. No, not WRONG. What good is talent if he cant step on the f[raiders_icon]cking field? Thats my point.vtraider wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 1:52 pm Wrong. The risk is there yes. Dude wtf are you even talking about? We're talking about his injury concerns. And you act like 8% is a lot lol. Good Lord.vtraider wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 4:55 pm Historical studies indicate that roughly 8% to 16% of fourth-rounders develop into high-quality, long-term starters
So yes. Worth the risk
If they concluded that the reward is a good starter then they can absolutely say that it is worth the risk of a 4th round pick. Whether it fails or succeeds isn’t really the pint because nobody can possibly know that when the decision is made. It’s like calling a bet in poker when you only have a 1 in 4 chance of winning while you’re getting 8-1 odds to make that call. Losing the hand doesn’t mean it was wrong to call.vtraider wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 4:55 pm Historical studies indicate that roughly 8% to 16% of fourth-rounders develop into high-quality, long-term starters
