Right... it was pre-season and Mendoza didn't even look good in pre-season.
I saw the same thing you did. It's possible and even likely that he's better now than then, especially seeing things happen in real time and having more time master the playbook, etc.
But right now, after one loss?
Our O-line can't run or pass black, leaving us with one great TE, and a good TE.
Maybe Mendoza can make some more plays with his feet, but that wouldn't have done anything to offset the poor performance in all three phases of today's game.

I'm not sure how anyone with a half a brain could have watched pre-season and think that Mendoza gives us the best chance to win now.
Perfectly fine to want Mendoza to start because he's the future and we need get on with his development. But claiming he's better than Kirk right now is just ignorance at its best.
That's the biggest reason I'd like to see more of him. He doesn't have nearly Kirks experience, he'll make his mistakes, but he's got a better arm and better escapability. It might even
open the playbook more if they didn't have to keep everything within a 20 yard box for Kirk.
But everyone was bad today. No run game, no run defense, no pressure on opposing QB. Back to being dominated in the trenches. Neither QB will do much with that.

If and when we go to Mendoza, you guys will have to live with the learning curve. And it could be ugly at times.
It will be some great moments and some ugly ones.
Cousins has little in the legs department or deep balls, but in general does not turn the ball over.
If we get below .500 and things go like today it will be Mendoza time.

We got two superbowl contenders the next two weeksm let cousins start those. If we lose them both maybe think about Mendoza then

Thougj id bet Mendoza is already a much better player than he was in preseason. Ive mentioned this a couple times but he wasn't a #1 pick heisman winner at the start of his Indiana season. He got better and better as the year went on. Thats what hard working, cerebral players do.

I agree. You can tell he's dedicated to putting in the work to improve. He's had 5 weeks of practice and film to add to his knowledge.
He looked good today.

Good move to get our primary back up who has never had a snap in an NFL game some time under center.

Just how many snaps do you guys think a backup QB gets in practice during the season?

Jesus, literally no one blaming the offense. Discussing the offense, yes, blaming, no.
Uhh, actually everyone is blaming the offense or at least it's the main focus of discussion -- "It's our run game" --- "we need to get the run game going" - "what's wrong with Jeanty" - "Jeanty sucks" - "Jeanty is injured" - "give Washington more snaps" - this is the main focus of discussion on most youtube channels and 920am. up to this point no one has called out the defense whatsoever or even mentioned it was a potential weakness. So apparently you aren't really aware of what people are saying. After this week, people will know the defense is ass. No one at all on social media or radio has called out the defense or even suggested it was the main weakness of this team.
Oh yeah -- "We need a WR1 " is another one.

The defense was very good before today. They obviously were absolutely awful today

We drafted a nice TE with a top pick.
We have drafted an RB with a top 10 pick.
Our trenches are not built up.
New England bullied us for 60 minutes. It was a, “why are you punching yourself” type beating.
Stop telling me about WRs.
We are getting beat up front on both sides of the football.

Well I finally had time to watch the whole game and I wish I hadn’t. It was like watching the Raiders last year. I think a few of use need to remember where we are. I don’t think anyway saw I going to the SB after last year and we should remember a few things,
1 We are still 3-2. Season is far from over. I think of all us would have taken this record after five games. We can still make the playoffs.
2 We went across the country against an angry defending AFC champ. The Pats aren’t chumps. The emotional game last week didn’t help. Sometimes you just get your ass kicked.
3 I am glad we saw Fernando come in during garbage time and not seeing uses stats from Cousins. I doubt we see Fernando come in as the starts until we are knocked out of the playoff hunt. I personally don’t want that because I want to make the playoffs.
4 I am not going to blame the offense for the defense giving up 45 points. They had their worst game of the year and didn’t do their part.
5 Good to see Laube get a touchdown and not just make social media posts.

I glanced at the posts above yours. Not one person blamed the offense.
as usual with you.
As the say as much as things change they always stay the same
But i will say our offence got nothing going & only the 00’s Raven defence would have won us that game in those circumstances

I think it goes hand in hand that if the offence doesn't get it going your more than likely gonna give up points unless the D plays lights out
I just dont think we’re there yet that either side of the ball can have an off day & we are competitive
There have been signs on both sides of the ball that have me excited

To be fair, we really only got "beat up" in the trenches yesterday. Even against the Chiefs we played well up front on both sides.
Although I do agree with you about the WRs. I think most want a WR1 but in actuality i think we just need solid contributors since the pass game will always run through Bowers. The Pats had nothing but a bunch of 2s and 3s yesterday and whooped us.
