Figured we can talk about the scheme that is wasting Jeanty, regressing Smith and frustrating the hell out of the fanbase. Not to mention Bech being wasted and a load of other issues.

But I will judge him on play calling and confused lineman blocking eachother.Player usage.Seems to me hes trying to be the smartest in the room.Maybe due to his first year here he had not enough info to scout internally to put players in the best position. The qb play hasn't helped anythingOpoponax50 wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 4:20 pm I refuse to judge the guy yet.
Geno has 9 picks in 5 games. He's thrown into double and triple coverage, taken sacks that could've been throwaways and thrown glaring ints in clean pockets.
That's not on the OC, it's on the QB and possibly the QB coach.
It took a few weeks for the O-line to get its act together and it's looking better the past couple of weeks with respect to the run game and opening holes until we have no choice but to throw the ball.
Chip can't play the damn position for Geno and Geno's been around long enough so that he should know not to do stupid things with the ball.
All that said, I want Geno to stay in. He's getting us where we need to be draft-wise.
Agreed if it were just Geno it would be one thing, but the blocking scheme has been an unmitigated disaster. I say this as someone who was very high on Kelly. But good coaches adapt to the talent at their disposal, and it feels like we're watching these guys struggle while simply hoping eventually the light bulb will go on. He's earned his criticismsMckdaddy wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 4:40 pm But I will judge him on play calling and confused lineman blocking eachother.Player usage.Seems to me hes trying to be the smartest in the room.Maybe due to his first year here he had not enough info to scout internally to put players in the best position. The qb play hasn't helped anything
PLUS: so many "attitude problems."NoThanksSir wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 4:43 pm Agreed if it were just Geno it would be one thing, but the blocking scheme has been an unmitigated disaster. Two things can be true at once.Opoponax50 wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 4:20 pm I refuse to judge the guy yet.

That’s a good point and honestly have they ever shown Geno on the phone, maybe with the OC? I mean the offense is shit everywhere so who is responsible for talking to these guys after a failed drive?NoThanksSir wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 4:51 pm Also another thing I've found weird about this staff...with Kelly and Philbin in the booth what kind of offensive leadership is on the sidelines? Brennan Carroll? It's real weird for the OC to be in the booth on a team with a defensive HC.
Play calls can always be questioned, but it's the players that have to execute them. In every single game by every team in the league every Sunday, the OC is going to be a less than perfect play caller. A lot of what looks like bad play calling are the players failing to execute the basics. But like I said, I think the O-line is getting better. Also, receivers are getting open, but Geno isn't getting them the ball.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 4:49 pm Two things can be true at once.
Chip has been garbage. From playcalling to protection to adjustments.
ok, I'm with you on this. I'm still wondering why we hired him in the first place. Does his name imply stability? Along with Mr Gum Chewing and Mr it was a fumble?Attyla wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 10:55 am Figured we can talk about the scheme that is wasting Jeanty, regressing Smith and frustrating the hell out of the fanbase. Damn, didn't see the game but WTF??ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 5:25 pm I don't know if the execution is on Chip, but he's the OC and it starts and ends with him. You just can't have your WR take out your RB on 4th and 1. Its unacceptable at the pro level..
Totally agree that we do not know the whole story right now. I think they're keeping their circle closed and working the best they can on the deficiencies. It takes time.raiderkoch wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 3:19 pm Sorry, I meant shotgun runs. Because again, it's known that they can run multiple plays out of a formation, so on the line calls by the QB. Do we know that he's not calling into those runs? Not sure
I did see the article calling out CK, so maybe it is 90% him. I'm just saying I'm not sure we know the whole story right now!
Huh? As head coach? Odd.
