If anyone was hoping to see Cam Miller start against the Chiefs, unfortunately you're out of luck. Miami just claimed him off our practice squad.

ETA: How the eff do you let that happen when you have plenty of roster spots open with the players they are shutting down? We are not a serious organization.

Our 2025 draft. So far looking like a grade of C+? Bech should have been an O-lineman as many of you said back then. JJ Pegues -- no idea if he is good. Etc.
Ashton Jeanty
Jack Bech
Darien Porter
Caleb Rogers
Charles Grant
Dont'e Thornton
Tonka Hemingway
JJ Pegues
Tommy Mellott WR Montana State
Cam Miller
Cody Lindenberg
Bech is way too small to be an offensive lineman /s

I’m surprised more teams don't do this. It’s low key genius to grab an intriguing prospect off another team’s PS for the last game of the season, then have the whole offseason to evaluate them
I think the right approach to the final game of the season would have been to cut or IR multiple veteran players and sign young PS players from other teams. IMO Lockett and Mostert are obvious choices.
I'm not sure if the Raiders might have offered to put Miller on the 53 man roster and he chose the Dolphins instead. I don't see the 2026 Raiders as an attractive place to play for a young QB hoping to have a chance to compete for a starting job because there's no way a guy with Miller's status would be in play for a team with the first overall pick.

I realize it takes 2-3 years to really evaluate, but not looking so great now. Hopefully the mid round linemen end up decent. Wish Pete gave them more game action.

Ultimately i think the draft ends up being pretty average. May be more if we get better coaching and develop the two lineman. People overestimate how many contributors you get out of a decent draft

Back when Mayock was still with the NFL Network, he once said that if you get one consistent Pro Bowl player and two more solid starters from a draft, you just had a
great draft.
The point being that you're not going to hit on everyone.
Re Miller: I would have loved to see him start a game, but let's be realistic: We're talking about a guy who couldn't move the ball
at all in Preseason when opposing defenses were clearing off their benches.
The chance of this being "no great loss" is about 99%.

The point here, to me, isn't that we lost much in value - it's that we lost anything when we didn't have to. Geno Smith was on the active roster today. He could have been IR'ed and Miller moved up to the active roster.
Good organizations don't make those mistakes.

It's possible that the Raiders wanted to sign Miller to the active roster but he chose to go elsewhere because he would know that there would be no shot of competing for a starting job with a team that has the #1 pick and is drafting a QB. You can't just "promote" a player to the 53 man roster - he has to agree to it.
I agree with your point though. I would have IR'd Geno, Lockett, Butler - guys who weren't playing anyway and you could have added your own PS guys to the roster or signed guys off another PS.
