Did anyone else find Tyree Wilsons performance on Sunday to be insulting?

I’m not trying to pile on or hate just to hate, but watching Tyree Wilson on Sunday honestly pissed me off more than it impressed me. Yes, he had a career game. The numbers were great. For one afternoon, he finally looked like the guy we were told we were drafting.

But context matters.

He waited until we were 2–14, the season was completely over, and then decided to show up against Kansas City’s backups. A third-string quarterback (who I still don't know the name of lol) and reserve offensive linemen. That’s when the urgency finally appears?

What really bothers me isn’t just that it took this long, it’s that it reinforces everything fans have been frustrated about. The talent is clearly there, which makes it even worse that we haven’t seen it when games actually mattered. When the season was still alive. When Crosby was getting doubled every snap and desperately needed help. When effort and impact could’ve changed outcomes.

Now fans are going to convince themselves this is who he really is and that he’s turned a corner. I’m not buying it. One good game after years of minimal impact, and it comes in a meaningless situation against backups. That doesn’t erase the body of work.

If anything, this performance makes him look worse in my eyes. It shows that when there’s no pressure and nothing on the line, he can dominate. That’s not what this team needs. We don’t need a late-season stat line. We need consistency, urgency, and effort when the games actually count.

Thanks for finally showing something, Tyree, but it’s too little and way too late for me. I still see him as a draft bust, and one breakout game against backups doesn’t move the needle.

I attribute it entirely to the talent he was playing. His 2nd sack the guy didn’t even get a hand on him. That tackle should immediately be cut for that one - I mean getting beat cleanly on a speed rush… by Tyree Wilson? Are we sure leatherwood isn’t on KC?

I’m not finished with Koonce quite yet. I wonder if he is still somewhat recovering from the ACl.

It was like Clelin Ferrell having that 2.5 sacks and 2 (or 3) FF against the Jets rookie LT, I think it was Becton. Wilson had a great game, not taking that away from him. But it was against sub-standard NFL level offensive linemen.

He seemed to come in late in the year. On the right deal, I'd like to have him back for 2026. For. The. Right. Price.

...while there is a chance we kept the wrong guy at end, with acl, next year will show far more on that.

Chaisson>Koonce well next year may not happen because no way do they give him 12 mil again, so his time as a Raider may be over!

I'm neither insulted, or particularly encouraged, by Wilson's performance. I don't think we'll get any trade value from the guy so just keep him on the roster as depth again. He will likely never be anything at all in the NFL other than depth, but his only chance would be to take a different approach to training. Dive into martial arts or something to get some sort of improvement in hand usage. Whatever he's doing isn't working, despite his measureables.

I said this before but I'll repeat: someone (Maxx is most likely) needs to get in his ear and tell him he will be bagging groceries in 2027 unless he gets his sh*t together.

He is what he is and he is what he was. Not his fault he was drafted so high. I would call it bad scouting.

I’d rather have kept Chaisson and gotten rid of Koonce and Wilson both.
