What should we do about our placekicking situation? Carlson's contract is up and he was only 22 for 27 in FGs last season (81.5%, which puts him in the bottom third of the league).

I jokingly go back and forth with CK in chat about this but I don’t recall bad snaps being the cause of missed FGs. What is it that makes the LS the villain?

He had a tell that the Bears used to block a FG attempt, as they got a much better jump at the snap. IMO his snaps are a little slow and, while they aren't off by enough to have aborted attempts, it's not as smooth an operation as you'd like. At least the Bears blocked the FG though, to help us get Mendoza.

Like with placekicker though, I don't care that much about the long snapper this year. Both are positions that could be fixed with a bit of money in 2027 when wins and losses might mean something.

I'm just treating 2026 like the 2027 preseason. I don't want us to tank, I just am not really worried about wins.

Carlson is fine, he has made some big kicks for us over the years.

Carlson is fine at a low salary. He doesnt warrant paying much for him at this point though.

I have always put far more value on a guy who is absolutely money inside of 45, than a guy who can make 55 yarders. Which explains my disdain for a former kicker picked in the first round.

If Carlson returns to form he is worth it. I’m also in this the camp that I want an accurate kicker over someone with “range”. He’s always going to be topping out at right around 60, I just don’t see him kicking anything longer on a regular basis.

That said? Sure it’s great if the kicker has both, but not everyone has a Cam Little.

Let this stooge walk
I’m tired of paying these K’s above average coin because they all flame out

Draft a K with one of the 10 7th round picks they have or find an undrafted Guy like Dallas did and move on

Pretty much where Im at. You can find a good reliable kicker anywhere these days it seems. There's no need to pay a kicker. There are guys off the street doing what Carlson does

Not to mention that dumbass ST coach put a defensive tackle as the edge protector in place of Mayer when he went down.
