Don’t forget they signed Parham too. Jets looking for that 1st pick secret sauce.

Man I’m not feeling good about this group, hope I’m wrong.
Just think, 2 years ago we had Davante Adams, Jakobi Myers, and Hunter Renfrow but some f[raiders_icon]cking clown of a HC destroyed that roster.

It's a staple of Kubiak's offense thus the reason for quarterbacks being under center at one of the highest rates in the league. Everything will work off of the run. If... if we are a dominate run team it will cure so many ills including but not limited too having to work out of more short yardage passing situations with the defense not knowing if you are handing the ball off again.

Also, missing from that list is the single most important receiver on our team in Bowers, who they will move all over the field along with Mayer and the wideouts putting them in motion which he also uses at one of the highest rates in the NFL to force defenses to declare there coverages and create mismatches. Making all of this work is Kubiak's specialty putting defenses in a bind forcing them to commit to the run first and causing havoc with all the different formations.

We have a brutal schedule from an opponent standpoint so this will be a very interesting year to see just where we are at competitive wise more so than win-loss. One could argue the NFC west is a tougher division than the AFC west but there is no room for doubt they are both incredibly competitive. When you add in meetings with the bills and pats 11 out of our 17 games are against the best of the best in the entire NFL. Won't surprise me in the least if we see Fernando just before the bye or right after it.
We need to be a successful run first team to give our QBs a chance. Seems Kubiak is devoted to the old school style with a fullback. This team isn’t talented enough to play behind the sticks and if we see a lot of 3rd and longs this year it’s not gonna be pretty.

Thornton making the roster after not playing is a strong indication about our wr room, and not in a positive way.

Thornton has the size and speed to be a deep threat and evidently, the Raiders must see something that some others don't.

At this point there could be a lot of different strategies at play for various players. Some guys are on the roster because they ultimately want them on the PS. Some guys are cut because the team feels they will be easy to slide onto the PS. There are teams that cut their punter because they plan to sign him back after protecting another player in final cutdowns. The Raiders, in particular, will have some unique strategies because they know they have first waiver priority and there are players they plan to claim. The team also has all the necessary cap space available if there's a player they want.

The back of the roster is very fluid right now.

So the Raiders who select 1 in the waver wire can select as many players as tbey want and get them all because they are putting in claims for players who are available.

Its not like the draft where #1 claims first. #2 claims second waiting for the other 31 teams to claim before the Raiders claim again.

Is this correct?

But what is the time frame? They can’t hold the whole process up for the League while they discuss options right?

I think the team is going all in on the run game with a fullback at times, two TE sets, and the short passing game to protect the QB, as well as keep the D off the field as much as possible. Hopefully the oline will gel and then maybe open things up. Its going to be a work in progress and if you expect too much, it will be a long season.

Next off season they either get a free agent wideout, or draft one very high.

You make a claim for the player before the required time (I believe it's 2:00 ET the day after the player is waived). Any player you're awarded (in our case, any player we claim because we are first), is then on your roster and you have to make space for that player that day by letting someone else go.

31 teams could all make a claim for the same player, so you would never hold up the process for any other team by making a claim - you just take the player from anyone behind you in the order. It's much more complicated for other teams because they may want just one player but they don't know who will drop to their spot in the order so they may claim more than they want.

Disappointed we did not keep Sloan. He may not turn out to be great by any means, but the move reminds me of when we cut Drake Thomas. He was undrafted and showed flashes and potential at a spot we aren't necessarily strong at.

Being a pass rusher, we definitely should've been able to find a spot.
