May 18, 20-21, 26, and 28-29, followed by a final session on June 1-4.

These workouts are held at the Intermountain Health Performance Center in Henderson, Nevada.

They serve as the voluntary Phase 3 of the team's offseason program, where 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted without live contact.

Following OTAs, the Raiders are scheduled to hold their mandatory minicamp from June 6-11.

When it comes to Thornton I'm going with his success or failure will depend a lot on the mental aspect of it all. You hear coaches say playing that position is a lot to learn and to take in for wide receivers coming out of college and that it takes them a while to grasp it all. I would think more so with a change in our offense. He certainly has physically wise, with the height and blazing quickness and top end speed to succeed. But there is more to it than that. Is he busying himself with the playbook and talking to coaches, veteran players like Nailor, Tucker and Dorsett? Is he a first in and last out kinda guy or is he filling his time playing video games and the such?

Comes down to his skill set and how it can be used in the shelme.
Can he play x y z? Or can he only stretch the defense.

Benson can stretch the field and do other things along with Tucker.

Imo hes on the roster bubble.
In are Nailor, Tucker, Bech and Benson.
Is there someone else? Not that we've seen so in all likelihood he makes the squad bit hes on the outside edge until hes not.
But what have we seen, he got 40 snaps last year.

These kind of reports are totally meh to me, as it is not even preseason football yet. It's no-contact practice.

QB News
- Cousins 20 yard pass to Tre Tucker(Stokes in coverage)
- Cousins passed tipped, picked off by Quay Walker
- Cousins big gain to Jack Bech on a deep seem
- Cousins hit Bowers and Bech down the middle before TD to Tre Tucker
- Mendoza was getting reps from under center and in shotgun
- Mendoza hit a 30 yard pass to Malik Benson
- AOC hit a deep ball to Shedrick Jackson

Thanks.yep, totally. Incorrectly stated by me. I considered this new regime as completely new, overlooking it's the same freakin GM!
Its possible Carroll had influence there, and he did start him a lot early until he'd/we'd floundered so much the first half of the year. Maybe my subconscious thinks so, and let the error through. It still does seem brand new to me. Spytek post-hard lessons from rookie GM year, seems more aligned now with the coach, a synergistic, focused direction. The opposite of last year. But hes still Spytek's guy.

I also caught myself overlooking something major in a long post I wrote recently. Huge overlook. I was going to point it out, but didn't want to derail the thread as we'd already moved past the sub-topic that had gone on for awhile. I will anyway someday.

Surely the coaches are aware that Thornton needs to improve in certain areas and will address them properly.

I feel the same; all that can be learned from these early practices is who they are playing where, as in who is getting reps at right tackle especially.

Yeah, it's just going through the motions under zero pressure. Carr was famous for being the best QB in the NFL when he was wearing the red jersey. Let's see how they do in real games.

Doesn't resonate anymore. Like yeah you make plays in practice.
But each fan could be in their own unique place of fandom.

We're all here living it day to day.

2 things can definitely be true at once and, especially in this instance. Giving more weight to one factor over another doesn’t negate this and it’s ok to put them together to come to a conclusion.

It’s obvious Thornton has issues and is a work in progress while also acknowledging our coaching staff was abysmal. Best we can hope for is the player takes a step forward to give our offense a much needed shot in the arm while our coaching staff helps put wins in the column by putting said player(s) in a position to succeed.

What the heck do I know? Some people do daily walking, yoga, stretching…seems most days I’ve taken a different route by doing daily cognitive surrender. Amazing I’ve lived as long as I have.

Cognitive surrender......I like it.

Im going to do my best to remember this and reuse it sometime

If I remember

Thornton probably doesn’t get drafted as early as he did if it wasn’t for his size and speed. Reminds me a lot of Darrius Heyward Bey - exact same speed, just a bit shorter.

Speed isn’t everything, football smarts is often the better asset. I remember watching Steve Largent, not big, not fast but that guy had great hands and football IQ. If Bech can emulate some of his skills, he could be an absolute game changer.
