While not as relevant as it used to be, there are still uses for the Parcells methodology. Namely one thing it does well is filter out one-year wonders.rcraider wrote: Fri Oct 10, 2025 7:03 pm This is why I feel it's even more important nowadays for college players to stay in school and get as much experience as they can, They are already behind the 8 ball in that modern college offenses don't prepare them for the NFL game. So getting playing time is now crucial
I dunno.Willmark wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 3:25 am While not as relevant as it used to be, there are still uses for the Parcells methodology. Namely one thing it does well is filter out one-year wonders.
This guy does a good job adapting it for today: https://in-betweenmedia.com/ranking-the ... lls-rules/
So you are agree or disagree? It appears you are saying it does matter but it doesn't?ToastPatterson wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 8:03 am I dunno.
Parcells drafted Drew Bledsoe in 1992. Drew had 29 (played as a true freshman) career starts and declared himself for the NFL draft after he was a junior. He didn't have the requisite completion percentage, TD to Int ratio or career wins.

I do like that criteria though. Parcells was notoriously demanding of his QB's.
I remember listening to a Bill Polian interview on Sirius XM with Pat Kirwan and he went through his pre draft requirements for a QB both on the field and off. Interesting stuff.
Baker turned out pretty well.
I didn't do a very good job of explaining myself, my bad.Willmark wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 9:35 am So you are agree or disagree? It appears you are saying it does matter but it doesn't?
Copium
Copium.
I don't think its ever that solid, or at least to me. If a QB won 29 games as a starter I'm not holding it against him.ToastPatterson wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 5:22 pm I agree that it is a solid criteria but there are exceptions that should be applied when evalutating the metrics.
Apparently that is what Parcels did with Bledsoe.
Please don't post Attyla videos.
I wish I could find Bill Polian's interview with Pat Kirwin regarding this very discussion. While Polian was very complimentary of Ryan Leaf's recovery and the good work he has been doing he also mentioned that Leaf wasn't in their draft plans even if Peyton Manning wasn't available regardless of their need for a QB.Willmark wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 5:25 pm I don't think its ever that solid, or at least to me. But as I note, it does filter out one-year wonders which is huge IMO. The other benefit is that it places an emphasis on the mental aspects of the game over physical.
It is relevant to both threads.LayneStaley wrote: Sun Oct 12, 2025 5:34 pm You had to post ^ that in 2 threads. Tell us you need attention without saying you need attention.
