And his teammates, and coaches, have always had nothing but very good things to say about him. Glue guys can get a little more pay because of that, but they can't jump into a new tier, which I'm afraid he wants.Raidernation1979 wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 12:34 pm Jakobi on why no hold out. I really hope they get a deal done with this guy.

Absolutely. My comment wasn’t referencing do a deal at any cost. Just sounds like a great guy to have on the team. It would be nice if they could come to a compromise on value.Jeevo wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 12:58 pm And his teammates, and coaches, have always had nothing but very good things to say about him. Not anything I read, just a thought... Maybe his agent is giving him unrealistic expectations? Unless he's changed agents since the contract, it's Drew Rosenhaus. He's greedy. Jacobi handling the situation with grace so far. Hope a compromise can be found.Raidernation1979 wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 1:40 pm Absolutely. My comment wasn’t referencing do a deal at any cost. Well he doesn't want to say he wants to be forever a Raider. Why would they bump his salary if he says he never wants to leave the team. He has to indicate he's willing to leave for the money.

He wants to go back to the Patriots, we should have traded him back.

Can’t say I love how this one is being handled. It’s not uncommon at all for good players (and yes he’s a good player) to want extensions on the last year of their deals, particularly if they’ve lived up to the current contract. And he has.
Pete wants to build a “new culture”, and isn’t part of that building the roster with hard working, dependable players who show up on gameday?
And again, I agree with everyone who claims hes not a superstar. He isn’t. And on the other side of that coin, is he not a top-7 player on this roster, including the punter and kicker? He’s an asset to this team, IMO, and not as easily replaced as some are suggesting.

I have said before, I can't really assess who's "at fault" for a lack of an extension because we don't know the negotiating stance of each side. I'm with you though in believing it's better for the team if they find a way to get an extension done - he's a good player and great teammate. Seems like exactly the guy that Carroll would want around for a while.DrDUne wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 6:50 pm Can’t say I love how this one is being handled. He seems like a great guy and teammate but he’s an 850 yard receiver and in no way even deserves to be a top 30 paid WR and it sounds like he’s looking for perennial 1000 yard money which is simply going to be a no-go for a well run organization. I would like to see him stay but only if he’s willing to compromise on his ask because the team already has a TE that can play slot as well as Bech who projects to run a similar route tree.

I think he’s currently at 31 highest paid at $11M/APY. Jeudy is making $17.5M, Christian Kirk $18M. I think that kind of raise would be warranted for his production. I would take him over either of those two.heavyD wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 7:07 pm He seems like a great guy and teammate but he’s an 850 yard receiver and in no way even deserves to be a top 30 paid WR and it sounds like he’s looking for perennial 1000 yard money which is simply going to be a no-go for a well run organization. Here is the list of WR based on APY. What WR’s getting paid less than him would you think are a suitable replacement that AREN’T on a rookie deal? Not trying to be argumentative at all, I just don’t see a lot of great veteran WR’s on this list that would be an immediate plug and play at, or below, his current APY who would be a clear upgrade.

I would like to keep him. But only at the right price. And as far as building culture by taking care of your own players. This is a new front office and coaching staff. They had to prioritize who was getting an extension and they focused on the lines in Maxx and Kolton which was the right choices
