Theyd have done this before it was announced the trade was cancelled and then just announced the reworked deal tomorrow
Yep, probably so.

I think The Raiders issuing a statement would shutdown any further discussions with Baltimore.

Do teams have to be cap compliant tomorrow when the new year begins?

The Ravens calling off their agreed-upon trade for Maxx Crosby on Wednesday night, hours before it would become official, sent the NFL into a tizzy and jolted free agency like few things have. Hundreds of millions of dollars had been committed, teams had made agreements with other pass rushers, the Raiders had worked to reshape their roster, handing out $281 million in agreed-upon free agent contracts, the Ravens had been unable to keep some of their own -- all under the assumption that Crosby was going to the Ravens for two first-round draft picks, and the Raiders would have a $30 million cap hit off their books. Yikes. On Wednesday night, team officials from around the league were scrambling to figure out what happened -- the deal fell through for medical reasons, with Crosby coming off a torn meniscus repair -- and what would come next. The Raiders were thrust into an incredibly difficult spot, perhaps having to reopen trade conversations for Crosby with a medical issue hanging over negotiations, likely scuttling any chance for them to again get two first-round picks. However this shakes out, the ultimate winner of Day 2 of the negotiating period was mayhem.

If no one fears Maxx why was it reported by Rap and Schefter that 1/4 of the league was calling Vegas regarding a trade for Crosby?
Or why was 3/4 of the league not interested?

In reality for this season, we lose cap space and pick 14 and keep Maxx. At least till this all flushes out.
Every glorious free agent stays....
Good Night...
PS: FU Ravens...

I would not respect Spytek if he traded Crosby to the Ravens on a lesser deal
They can f[raiders_icon]ck all the way off.

Fallout from Tuesday's news could negatively impact how other clubs work with the Ravens, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported. Wolfe was told by an NFL general manager that everyone involved in trade talks knew the pass rusher would be out until June or July. The consensus Wolfe received was that the Ravens got cold feet.

This is for sure the Raiders getting this message out.
But
If the Raiders do keep him, an embarrassed, pissed off, insanely.motivated Crosby back on the team ain't a bad thing.

Yes, but my understanding is:
A) The cap only applies to the 53 highest-paid players on the roster.
B) Even with Maxx back, we're $37 million under the cap.

It seems... for sure.
This was...
A.) Premeditated by the ravens to mess up our team.
B.) They totally blew it, realized how bad they blew it and now are trying to stick the shit back in the horse.
Either way is bad and either way they should be penalized for doing so. I'm going with "A" as they have a history of pulling slimy shit. I didn't state it here but I was surprised that we actually had dealings with them after the stunt they pulled with the stadium vote for L.A. That was all Bisciotti.

Yeah, it would be really hard to do, I just covet that 14th. I think that’s a deadly sin though.
