Carr's not coming back from anything, not even as a bridge or backup. I'm comfortable in predicting that The Thumb wouldn't sign him.

Carr coming back for a year while Mendoza sits on the bench doesn't sound so bad. Pete plays out his final year of coaching with a vet while in 2027 we land that highly coveted offensive coach to come in and make a push with Mendoza.

That isn't going to happen though as Carr would want "you have to play me in the 2nd year money" and would want a no trade clause.

Carr already retired because of a mediocre 2nd rounder. He couldn't take a competition with the #1 pick
