Soft tissue injuries like his do not heal in that amount of time. The NFL does not provide a large enough window between the end of the season and the beginning of free agency to fully get that done. Teams know this and have to take what the doctors say and project forward. It gets tougher with Lisfranc injuries because there is no way to know for certain. Microfracture procedures are another. Baltimore knew Crosby was not going to be fully healed. It was bullshit in all likelihood but it is not against the CBA what they did. And I am at a loss to know how the rule could be changed so it does not happen again. The physicals are medical opinions so there are gray areas to this.Viper wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 3:27 am There was no way Maxx was passing a physical 8 weeks out from surgery, doesn’t matter who the doctor is. Every team knew this going into FA. As you stated, our defense is improved, especially if we retain him.
And ya, we got screwed. You don’t agree to a trade, let a team you’re trading with go and spend a boat load of cash signing guys, and then get cold feet because you saw something else shiny, not to mention we were signing players around the idea we had an extra first round pick.
Pisses me off they can get away with being complete douche bags with no repercussions. As many have said tho, time to move on.
The part that people seem to forget is that the Raiders said he failed his physical because he needed surgery on his shoulder, then he signed with the Rams who said he didn't. Then he played with a gimpy shoulder for a while before ending that season on IR and undergoing shoulder surgery.Xramfan wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 10:39 pm Who was the lineman that the Raiders signed awhile back but then he “failed” his physical and the signing was null and voided? Raider fans everywhere gave Mark Davis praise for creating the “buyers remorse” failed physical excuse.
Agreed. The whole point of the trade this offseason was to move him while his value is high. If he's suiting up for us this year, we should restructure him to free up cap space and have him retire a Raider.BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 5:30 am At this point, you either have to make him a Raider for life or you still trade him before the season. No 1 year rental and trade him in 2027 or nonsense like that.
We're in upside down worldToast wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 8:56 pm What is funny about this entire shitshow is that it isn't even a shitshow of the Raiders doing. Now we making progress!
How about at the trade deadline?BoKnows81 wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 5:30 am At this point, you either have to make him a Raider for life or you still trade him before the season. No 1 year rental and trade him in 2027 or nonsense like that.
Nope. It's now (before season) or never.
I’ve never liked that f[raiders_icon]cking team. Ray Lewis, Fat f[raiders_icon]ck, Ray Rice, but my disgust with them had faded. It’s back full-force. f[raiders_icon]ck that dirtbag dogshit organization. I’m gonna hate-follow and celebrate every single f[raiders_icon]ckup and failure. Can’t wait to destroy them in ‘27.chucker wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 6:25 am What's wild about this whole saga is that if we had decided all along not to trade Maxx and then made all of these moves, we'd have to convince him that things are different. And Maxx, it seems, was done and wanted to move on. Now, because it's the Ravens that kept him from getting moved to a "contender", it feels like he may view it as a fresh start on an ascending team in a way that never would have happened without this weird journey.
In the end, it might be the Ravens who helped the Raiders accelerate the journey back to relevance. Regardless, f[raiders_icon]ck the Ravens.
Riddle me this, you are a team of football minds sitting around the table debating well before free agency what moves to make for your team. It is decided that the likelihood that of your superstar DE being traded is through the roof it's just a matter of the best offer so you base all your moves off of that. He gets traded, you implement your plan and you go out and sign players based off of that and then the slimy dirt ball of an organization you dealt him too that has done this in the past now backs out of the deal. You would have went in a different direction free agency wise if you were unable to deal him. That was the whole purpose of dealing him in the first place.Attyla wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 3:16 am Dr Daniel Cooper, who is the Cowboys team doctor and is a world renowned knee specialist was the doctor who did his physical. While he found that the surgical procedure was progressing, he was not cleared and as a result, Baltimore passed on Crosby. When you have a specialist of his level of expertise doing the evaluation, it is pretty much a done deal. And you have to understand, these are medical opinions so somewhat subjective. What happened in Baltimore was so rare they would not have had a backup evaluator available.
All that to say, is it shady? One can make the case very easily. Did Baltimore stack the deck? Almost certainly. Did we get screwed? That would be an opinion, but I would say our defense as it stands now is significantly improved.
....I still believe we would have been aggressive with the new regime, and while we heard of the supposed list provided by our new DC of what he needed to make it work on that side of the ball, I would imagine that kk also wanted some kind of commitment beyond what we would do with the 1st pick. ....on the flip side, the de that we signed is one which may have not been had we known.... ....there weren't more than maybe one or 2 moves we made that weren't geared towards real team needs, and with those one or 2 perhaps being to compensate for his expected loss.....chucker wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 6:25 am What's wild about this whole saga is that if we had decided all along not to trade Maxx and then made all of these moves, we'd have to convince him that things are different. I also wonder if we'd have been as aggressive in FA with Maxx on the roster - I kinda doubt it. In the end, it might be the Ravens who helped the Raiders accelerate the journey back to relevance. Regardless, f[raiders_icon]ck the Ravens.
