NewEraX25 wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2026 7:41 am I'm sorry, but Maxx is an abysmal pass rusher, and all we have heard was the excuse that he gets double and triple teamed. Myles had the highest rate of double teams faced last year and he smoked Maxx in pass rushing stats. While playing 200 less snaps to include Maxx sitting out 2 games. Maxx is not good at all against a double team. Joe Alt puts on a clinic when it comes to stopping Maxx. Maxx gets his pressure when a QB holds onto the ball too long, he barely gets pressure off his initial rush. Honestly the only benefit to having Maxx in a 4-3 would be his ability to stop the run.
"abysmal"?

Not sure why you are the only one who keeps comparing Myles to Maxx, and I don't remember anyone that ever claimed Maxx was better than Myles.

Why in the world would teams double and triple team Maxx so often if they truly felt he was "abysmal"?

Edit; sorry boknows81 and chucker...didn't see either of your posts before I posted.

Maxx is arguably Top 5 i’d say he could be considered elite but arguably on the bottom end of it but he is definitely not abysmal.

I always think about how good both him & Mack could have been together, possibly how we could have had one of the best pass rush duos of all time if Gruden hadnt blown it up

Garrett though is in a league of his own & he may be verging on being in the conversation with LT, Reggie White, Bruce Smith, JJ Watt, Aaron Donald etc of being the greatest defensive player of all time, another couple of years of this & it’ll be hard to argue against

It is win win for us whether Maxx stays or goes because we are stronger with him but will be in a better place to rebuild if he gets traded

great against the run too. And that is why he is out there so much, he just does not quit at being the best he can be. He needs to dial it back some but that has been discussed. And he is trending toward a yellow jacket if he can put together 5 more years like his first 7

Maxx is an elite player. Not an elite pash rusher. He stops the run as well as anybody and is a top tier pass rusher. Very few players do both at the level he does

To me the idea of trading Maxx is based on the idea of specifically rebuilding the oline. But what if Caleb Rogers and Charles Grant are very solid players? I don't care if they can ball out for 31 other teams, what if they're very good in Kubiaks offense. Let's just say for arguments sake they are. With Kolton, JPJ, Linderbaum. Does that then make it worthwhile to trade Maxx for two 1sts? I'm not sure its worth it in that scenario where the oline is now set. In my mind no defender you draft is really going to come close to what you get from Maxx. The Raiders got a lot better in FA with 10 draft picks still to go.

On defense they need a couple nose tackles, starter and depth. IMO they need a free safety. Another corner would be nice. That's about it.

On offense a guy who can play RT with a certain floor/a draft prospect with a certain floor. I'm not sure any prospect will have a ceiling as high as Grant. They also need another legit RB to go with Jeanty. Mendoza at #1 is obvious. Perhaps a backup with some experience to help out Mendoza and or give him leeway to sit a month or so. Drafting another interior oline guy for depth/competition would be nice.

I guess ultimately the cupboards aren't so bare when I look at what the Raiders have. And with cap/draft picks I really don't see some dire need to trade Max for more draft capitol. I didn't think the Raiders would land Linderbaum! That's a big move that moves the needle on the oline

I think the aborted trade leaves you with less potential return for Maxx so you're better off keeping him for now. The next time you might get an offer worth considering is the trade deadline. Maxx has to prove he's healthy and ball out. If he does that then you might get an offer at the trade deadline or next offseason that has you listening. There's never a guarantee that a guy will stay healthy, but I'm confident that Maxx will wreck some games for opposing offenses this season.

I thought about the very same thing but I didn't know if a "down vote" button would be a good or a bad thing.

I suppose if they could make it "anonymous" it might not result shit storms, but would still send a message.

I totally agree. I imagine the vultures are likely circling with lowball offers so best course of action is to just keep him and see how the season goes. If the team plays better than expected then you just run with it for the entire season but if they appear out of it by the deadline they can explore other opportunities. I do think a healthy Max with more support and better snap count management could have a resurgent season that could ultimately boost his value next offseason. They will likely never get 2 x 1st round picks for him again but if they get another productive season out of him and next season get a 1st + later picks I think that's still a win. Or maybe everything just works out and he plays out his career as a Raider. Anything can happen.

This is what I thought might be in play.

yellow jacket is almost set in stone if he stays healthy another 2-3 yrs...the league has great pass rushers but the elite total package players are hard to find, max is the total package does everything top notch when he is on the field, kwitty can spell him on run plays and holding the edge for sure

Yeah one of those we think we can handle the truth but we can't.
It's actually PC not to have a thumbs down and probably the right thing, PC isn't always just wrong...
