Obvious Mendoza #1 no consideration of trading that pick.
But who you got picks 2 - 4 thats going to help Mendoza.

#2 Raiders should be able to select WR Chris Bell or WR KC Concepcion with our early 2nd.

#3 I forget who it was, but someone here mentioned that the best pure dominant RT coming out of college could be got in the 3rd. And stated hes played his whole career at RT, and not being moved around the line.

Sounds like solid gets

Id hope the rest of the draft is building the trenches, with maybe 1 DB in there

Who else you like ?

I don't want O'Connell anywhere near this roster. Nor should he be.

If he were to be cut, I would imagine it would have happened by now

There's no reason to cut O'Connell unless you've found a better, or cheaper alternative. This is the first year that there could be a cheaper alternative though because his salary has bumped up in his 4th year to a level at which you can't just say he's worth it just as a warm body. He has to add value as a good backup/mentor or a true developmental guy. I think we generally know he's not really a developmental guy. I think he's a marginal backup, and the question we can't answer as fans is whether he's actually helpful to a starter as a mentor or as a guy who helps prepare the starter for action.

I've suggested Brandon Allen as a vet who can handle the role in supporting the starter - he's worked with both Kubiak and McCoy.

...whatever anyone thinks of o'connell, after seeing what chip, pete, Pete's kid, and the rest of the gang did to geno, who was a pretty consistent performer prior, and ignoring the behavior part of it, which was as bad as it could have been. ....while o'connell may be viewed as a back up regardless of which team, when moving forward, he was in about as bad a situation as any of them since being added to the team....

....were Allen on the table, what would you suspect it would take to bring him in?

He cost the Titans $1.4 million on a one year deal last year and basically didn't play. He's likely going to sign for something like that this year. O'Connell makes about $3.6 million this year and has no familiarity with the offensive staff.

...oh, I asked because I thought he was still 'the property of' Tennessee.... ...why the heck not, then....and with a rookie QB, especially, 1 can't see them not having 3 on the roster....

So if I am mocking the draft, here are options that make us better at key positions. I don't like mock drafts because they really err the deeper into the draft you go, and I won't even project past the fourth round but here are guys I do like as options

1. Mendoza: The no brainer pick
2. Blake Miller/Iheanchor. One of these two should be there and either will start day one
3. Bud Clark: Good range ball hawking safety, may take a bit to get started but he hits hard for his size. He is always around the ball and his instincts are really good.
4. Zxavian Harris: This cat is big, like really big. There will be guys around this pick who might be better but I take him partially due to need and partially because he makes us better quickly. Ol Miss product who is also durable.

Was listening to an interview with Jason Horowitz, our radio play by play guy, and his feeling is that the team is looking to add a veteran QB still.

Yea I agree. Makes too much sense. Have a gut feeling it's gonna be Cousins.

if you get a Cousins level guy, O'Connell is toast

I hope we don't add Cousins. I don't think Cousins will choose a team unless he has some assurances that he actually has a good chance of being the starter for a full season. And I want us to be committed to getting Mendoza on the field, even if it isn't game 1.

And he will be somewhat pricy. Jeff Driskel is out there and will be a cheap very experienced guy.
