No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.

Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

Willmark wrote: Wed Oct 07, 2026 6:48 pm Marcus Allen has a legitimate case that he is the greatest RB of all time.

Rushing: He's 15th in rushing yards, 4th in rushing touchdowns.

Receiving: 5,411 yards, 21 receiving touchdowns. As is, these numbers place him 4th among RBs all time.

He has 6 passing TDs, 282 yard. That's second to Payton.

But those don't tell the whole story:

He lost opportunities to two strikes, endured four seasons of severely restricted usage during his prime, and STILL retired with 17,654 yards from scrimmage and 144 rushing and receiving touchdowns. If we run the numbers with reasonable projections for the strike years and lost production where Al lost his mind he gets really, really close to Emmit Smith.
Completely agree with that above statement in bold. Al f[raiders_icon]cking up Marcus's career, during he prime for some who knows what the f[raiders_icon]ck reason. Those lost years would have put him right up at the top of the all time rushing yardage lead and probably the most complete RB of all time, running the ball, catching passes, hell throwing passes too! Also Marcus was the best back of all time in side stepping and eliminating hard hits to himself. The way he used to side step, slide away from full on contact was one of a kind.
One of Al's greatest sins.

Best Current NFL Teams:

KC Chiefs (K9)
Buffalo Bills (James Cook)
Baltimore Ravens (Derrick Henry)
Whiners (Christian McCaffery)
Philadelphia Eagles (Saquon Barkley)
*Seattle Seahawks (Jadarian Price/Emmanuel Wilson)

*: The Seattle Seahawks won the SB with K9 last year

RBs are once again a PREMIUM position in this new climate. You can't gamble on a diamond in the rough to compete anymore. That narrative comes from the Denver Broncos with their HOF offensive line and the (at the time) fresh zone-blocking scheme that took the league by storm. That time has passed.

A two-way back like Marcus Allen, Marshall Faulk, or even Bijan Robinson is all the rage right now. You can no longer be a playoff/SB contender without a solid RB.

CBS ran a story "Best veteran acquisitions" and the Raiders have 2 of the 9 -- Cousins and Dean:

Best all around back is either him or Payton. Same mold really, Payton was more powerful. Allen was more elusive.

I ran the numbers going conservative, reasonable or exceeding what he would have done those four years Al benched him and you get something like 800-1000 yards on the ground per season along with 300-400 receiving per year maybe 20 more TDs. (1990 season I left largely as is).

I deliberately picked a middle of the road scenario; he’s not recreating his 1985 season,

Another thing is 1982 hurt him a lot. That season seven games and four more in 1987. 11 games, that’s approaching an entire season. Smith never had to face that during his playing career. Nor did he have to face an outright hostile owner trying to sabotage him.

Long story short, with some logical inferences and using his Chiefs years (as a guide to how he performed in relation to latter half of his career) he ends up within around 800 yards of Smith for yards from scrimmage and around five less TDs for his career.

That’s the crime that Al Davis committed.

Is this exact? No, but when I ran the numbers it came up with a fairly decent working model.

No they’re not.

I’ll take Josh Allen over three Bijans.

I’ll take Myles Garret over 3 Jahmyr Gibbs.

I’ll take Aaron Donald over 5 James Cooks’.

Don’t think I need to keep going. Pretty simple.

I always believed that Marcus is in the top 5. Other than Walter Payton no one was as versatile and when he his career body of work is taken into consideration no one was more accomplished. I was fortunate enough to see him play during his prime.

I could argue that position to position that a great TE is more valuable than a great RB

There will most likely be 5 or 6 QB's taken before we draft. Good for us as the WR's, CB's, OL, DL will slide down. We should end up with a solid player (especially the way we drafted last season) despite having a decent to good record at the end of the season.

In the most predictable outcome news, Sean Payton is taking back play calling duties.

What would 3 Bijan's do? You can only play one of them anyway.

Josh Allen is a QB. Bijan is an RB. The argument was never whether or not RB is more important than QB, or any other position. The argument that you made, was that you can find a great RB in the late rounds which I've proven to be objectively false.

The post that you quoted was to show that all the SB contenders this year have a top 10 RB, and those RB's (except one) were all drafted in the top 50. So, you're claim that you don't need one is also false, because all the top teams in the NFL RIGHT NOW have one. Even Ashton Jeanty, who is a fridge top 10-12 RB when healthy, is on a 3-1 team.
I’ll take Myles Garret over 3 Jahmyr Gibbs.
We have Maxx Crosby at home, and we've been a bottom 5 team his entire career minus one season. Garrett has been on the Browns his entire career up to this point and the Browns have been a bottom 5 team.

Yeah, Garret is better but he's not so much better than Crosby on paper and neither have elevated their teams to a contender on their own.

Pass rushers in general are a luxury. Great running backs are a PREMIUM. This is a very bad example, but I'm sure you don't see that.
I’ll take Aaron Donald over 5 James Cooks’.
What would 5 James Cooks' do? You can only play one.

This example has merit only because of the names mentioned. Aaron Donald is a first-ballot HOFer that plays a much more important position than pass-rusher. Aaron Donald is also vastly more talented as a player compared to James Cook. Everyone who isn't a hard-core Bills fan (and even then) would take Aaron Donald.

I would take Aaron Donald over a lot of Raider players...
Don’t think I need to keep going. Pretty simple.
Don't, because you didn't actually do anything except move the goal posts.

Guess the young hot shot coach candidate, is not so hot any more. You're welcome Sean Payton....and just to keep this on the low...we weren't interested in Bo Nix.

I don't know why some pile on mranquales. He makes some valid points just like everyone else. Goal posts get moved all the time during debates here. Ive seen a great post from basically everyone here who posts on any kind of semi regular basis
