Raiders@Broncos on TNF game thread

It’s been an awful season but the Raiders do have a chance to stink up the Donks season a bit if they pull an upset.

Then why hasn't Cole regressed? Surely he should be suffering like Carlson, no?The Real CK wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 4:39 am Carlson hasn't been the same level since McDaniels' ST Coach left Sieg walk to bring in his long snapper. Meanwhile, Aubrey and Sieg are the class of the league in Dallas.
Dumbest team in America.
Kicking and punting are different animals. However, Cole has had four blocks in the last two years. He had zero when Sieg was around.Hellbound wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:29 am Then why hasn't Cole regressed? Surely he should be suffering like Carlson, no?
I understand he had some blocked punts but using your logic, he should be struggling kicking the ball since his long snapper is gone, just like your excuse for Carlson. Im sure the ST coach will be gone but to say he's responsible for Carlson's yips while Cole is punting at his same high level is asinine. Carlson was cut from Minnesota for a reasonThe Real CK wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 10:23 am Kicking and punting are different animals. However, Cole has had four blocks in the last two years. Carlson's FG percentage has dropped every year since Sieg's departure. The dude was 94.3% (2020), 93.0% (2021) and 91.9% (2022) and the 91.9% came despite trying 13 50+ yard FGs.
Then he dropped to 86.7% (2023), 85.0% (2024), and 75% (2025).
From 2020-2022: he went 21-24 from 50+. From 2023-2025: 11-20.
Carlson, Cole, and Sieg were the best ST trio in the league and the team removed Sieg for no reason except staff favoritism. "Sieg was released after the Raiders acquired long snapper Jacob Bobenmoyer, who reunited with special teams coordinator Tom McMahon."
Carlson was wildly inconsistent as a Viking, and he has been wildly inconsistent as a Raider. Every year since 2020 his percentage has gone down. He was a two time All Pro but 91.9% was actually his AP1 season. He was AP2 with a slightly higher percent.Hellbound wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 10:59 am I understand he had some blocked punts but using your logic, he should be struggling kicking the ball since his long snapper is gone, just like your excuse for Carlson. He was a Viking for two games, hardly enough time to build a rep as wildly inconsistent.Attyla wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 11:23 am Carlson was wildly inconsistent as a Viking, and he has been wildly inconsistent as a Raider. Kicking and punting are different animals and require different snaps. For further information, Cole hasn't led the league in anything since Sieg left.Hellbound wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 10:59 am I understand he had some blocked punts but using your logic, he should be struggling kicking the ball since his long snapper is gone, just like your excuse for Carlson. It is not in either of your arguments. He was wildly inconsistent as a Viking and his numbers went down every year starting in 2020. These are facts. I get it that facts these days are not used to make arguments. And you do not get to define inconsistent. And who made you the guy who gets to draw a line of what does and does not "tell the tale?" You run around here like you get to define the standards. The standards are not defined by the longest kicks, it is the entire body of work that defines the player. The Real CK wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 11:33 am He was a Viking for two games, hardly enough time to build a rep as wildly inconsistent.
That is disingenuous. A slight dip from 94.3% to 93.0% is hardly concerning. Dropping from the 90+ plus ranks to the 80% and 70% areas is cause for distress. Or how he went from 21-24 from 50+ with Sieg to 11-20 with Bobenmeyer.
Inconsistent is bouncing from 81% one year to 94% back to 83% and back to 92%. Stabler's career fits that profile, actually.
Carlson was an All-Pro kicker with Sieg and another run-of-the-mill guy without him. The 50+ percentage tells the tale to whose willing to listen to empirical evidence.
Drawing upon two games to categorize him as wildly inconsistent ignores sample size.Attyla wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 11:59 am It is not in either of your arguments. no, stating a fact is a factThe Real CK wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 1:14 pm Drawing upon two games to categorize him as wildly inconsistent ignores sample size.
Yeah, and no one in the fan base complained about his percentage slightly dripping in the 90s because 90+ is elite. The All-Pro voters certainly didn't mind since they voted him First Team in 2022, despite a slight percentage drop from 2021. Why? Because he made 11 from 50+ in 13 attempts - which were the most in the league. He outkicked Justin Tucker in 2022 from 50+.
People care now because his percentage has been in a free fall. Going from 94.3 to 93.0 isn't alarming. Dropping to 75% is. Be pedantic about that fact. It is irrelevant to the wider scope. You can draw a clear line of demarcation between elite Carlson (Sieg) and non-elite Carlson (Bobenmeyer).
His 50+ percentage is especially relevant because kickers - league wide - are becoming more and more proficient from 50+. Meanwhile, Carlson's percentage has cratered from that distance.
The situation in the NFL has changed. 99% of modern kickers are money from 19-40. If you are going to be heavily compensated, you better hit consistently from distance. Carlson signed a contract, making him the third-highest paid kicker. Now, he is performing at a rate of a random UFL kicker.
The numbers are clear. Carlson and Sieg from 2020-22 were elite and among the NFL's best. Since Sieg was unfairly jettisoned, Carlson has degraded each season into a run-of-the-mill kicker. Dropping Sieg was completely unnecessary and only done to satisfy our recently fired ST Coach, who wanted his pet long snapper.
Here is a handy aid if you can't keep up with words: https://www.merriam-webster.com/Attyla wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 1:34 pm no, stating a fact is a fact
Spinning it is not. I never said he was wildly inaccurate for years, I said while with the Vikings. Lots of words do not dispute that and his time with the Raiders has also been wildly inaccurate with a few years where he was not.
Facts, you can try to spin them all you want but it is still a fact.
again you bore me. I am doneThe Real CK wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 1:55 pm Here is a handy aid if you can't keep up with words: https://www.merriam-webster.com/
Again, a sample of two games is essentially meaningless. Zimmer decided to make him the sacrificial lamb. The Vikings signed journeyman Dan Bailey, who only kicked at a 75% clip in 2018. Bailey then went 93.1% in 2019 but fell to 68.2% in 2020 and his career was over. Now, that is wildly inaccurate and inconsistent!
He became inaccurate after Sieg left.
Be pedantic about 94.3% and 93.0% and 91.9%. Sort of funny how he earned First Team All-Pro with the 91.9% mark. Then again, it isn't funny when you realize he made the most 50+ yard field goals in the NFL that year.
Again, a wildly inaccurate kicker sits in the 70% and 80% all the time. That isn't Carlson's full resume. What we have seen is a concerning slide from 2023 onwards.
