Totally agree with this. Maxx is a great player, loyal to the fan base, but I’m sure that comes with a huge ego and when he was told he was being shut down after saying he doesn’t care about the pick he flew off the handle and texted everyone he wanted out. Raider brass was looking at the big picture for once and the result of shutting him and Bowers down, without any doubts the two best players on each side of the ball, proved a strategic move to change the trajectory of the Raiders future. These moves have paid off and Maxx realizes the stars may have finally aligned for the Silver and Black and now he's back to wanting to be a Raider for life.Gmac wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 9:43 am I think Crosby probably flew off the handle when he was shut down and did text people like Glazer about wanting out. Hondo (take it for what it’s worth) has also alluded to it was the way he was shut down/notified, rather than the decision to sit him.
I also think after a few weeks now he’s calmed down, but the “insiders” will not let it go, and that’s why it’ll resurface. And then there is the raiders POV. I don’t think they took too kindly to his antics and will likely call his bluff if he wants out.
All of this could calm down in a weeks time if we somehow get ahold of Schwartz (or Rob Leonard). Of course they would want Maxx and Maxx would want to play for him. I just don’t think the raiders are going to sweet talk and beg Maxx this go around. You want to be here, great. You don’t, we can make that happen too.

It was the perfect storm of building blocks for the Raiders to score Kubiak. Lots of cap space, a few stud offensive players in place already, the #1 overall pick with Mendoza available. & Also, yes, Maxx Crosby. Klint isn't an idiot. With Maxx he either has a really good defensive end or he has a trade asset that nets him even more building material. It's a win win situation. I like Maxx a lot but there's many better pass rushers out there. Hes not a mediocre pass rusher but he earns his respect in every other way IMO.
If he stays I like it. There's a chance he starts to get injured or falls off in production. You then lose out on potential trade value in the future.
If he's traded I like it. But that's contingent on getting a good haul for him & also making sure those picks and cap space are used wisely. Both have potential of working out and also failing.

Because of the Kubiak situation nobody knows but he at least should be. he was Michigans DC the past 2 years. i believe i saw reported that it was a pretty much a done deal for him to become the Jets DC. He apparently even told his staff something to the effect: „Boys, we are going to New York“. then Aaron Glenn pulled a suprising „but i will be calling plays“ and everybody was left bamboozled and Wink pulled out.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 8:23 pm Whats Wink Martingale doing these days? Is he on the radar at all?
Always loved Maxx und most likely always will. Personally i want him to stay but i would totally get it if he wanted out. he heard the „this time we will get it right“ speech so many times. i absolutely do believe, that Kubiak should and will talk with Maxx about his overall plan and who he intends to hire as DC. after that decisions will possibly be made.
Not rocket science that the chances of landing some „household-name“ like Schwartz or Wink very much depends on Maxx being a Raider.

The Raiders do eye a full rebuild, looking to create a foundation around likely No. 1 pick Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza and for new head coach Klint Kubiak, who is expected to join the team after his Seahawks face the Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday.
Trading Crosby for a draft haul would be a way to turn on the accelerator on a rebuild.
Raiders owner Mark Davis thinks highly of Crosby and always has. One wonders if he would do right by one of his loyal soldiers with a trade to a potential contender. In fact, it may be best for all sides.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post:

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports a Maxx Crosby (knee) trade could happen “at the 2026 NFL Draft or prior to the season.”
The key to this report is Crosby’s meniscus repair, which Rapoport notes makes him unlikely to be medically cleared before free agency officially begins. Thus, any acquiring team would be taking a leap of faith on the 28-year-old’s health for the 2026 season. We would be surprised if the Raiders traded him after the draft, where they’d seem to lose a lot of leverage, but the Micah Parsons trade did just happen right before the start of the 2025 season so it can’t be entirely ruled out.

I think the only decision by Davis is that he's given Spytek the latitude to do what he thinks is best. I suspect that happened a while ago when Crosby was put on IR and that the move was a bit of a "we're in charge now, not you" statement to Maxx. Maxx probably ran to Mark at that point and Mark confirmed that Maxx is no longer a front office executive.raidersince63 wrote: Sun Feb 08, 2026 6:44 am I think the decision has already been made...(John Spytek and Mark Davis)
There is absolutely no reason to have a decision on anything now. You have to wait and assess the value propositions nearer the time that a decision actually takes effect. If nobody will give value for Maxx until he is further into his rehab then it's too soon to have finality on anything.

There's also a possibility that there would be a trade after the draft - and potentially after June 1. That's actually when a player for player trade often makes more sense in part because of cap ramifications and in part because Maxx will be further along in his recovery from surgery. There are players on teams that can't realistically be traded before June 1 because of cap hit and the team's available cap space - AJ Brown for example.

A lot of GM's look at their job security in the short term window, it's possible we could get an even larger haul in 2027 picks because GM's consider the fact that if this doesn't work out, they won't be here for those picks anyway.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Feb 08, 2026 7:31 am NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports a Maxx Crosby (knee) trade could happen “at the 2026 NFL Draft or prior to the season.”

Being that 2027 is likely a stronger draft class, and our team is now on a longer term rebuild timeline, I'd have no issue waiting until post draft to make a deal (if we do trade him).- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post:

Hopefully it wouldn't be as bad as that CM Punk guy, or whatever his name is.

Dana White is fully convinced that he could get a lot of viewers if he could get Maxx to fight. It's all about the $$$ and playing on egos is effective and profitable.

Oh yeah, Spytek should indeed call the shots, but I gotta believe that he and Mark at least talked it over.chucker wrote: Sun Feb 08, 2026 8:05 am I think the only decision by Davis is that he's given Spytek the latitude to do what he thinks is best.
