come on chucker, you and I both know that the turnip is now going to lock up the guy before someone gets paid 60M per.
Derek's pricetag just went up about 5M per. I know you think we should wait, and I agree, but it is now a sellers market for QBs and his agent knows it.

DO NOT GIVE CARR A NEW CONTRACT THIS YEAR! We just absolutely don't need to. What do we lose by not giving him a new contract this year? Ummmmmmm, NOTHING! We lose nothing. See how he does in the new system first and then decide. Be smart dammit!

He is already under contract. Furthermore you can franchise him after that for cheaper. I have no idea why people want to extend Carr now. IF GB wants to go nuts, let them go nuts. If they think giving one player one quarter of the entire salary cap is going to put them in the SB, let them.
Now is NOT the time to follow GB and others down a path where one player takes up 20 to 25% of your cap. Raiders need not follow them off that cliff.
I hope Ziegler will stand fast and see that this is not the recipe for sustained success.
For the very first time this year, Mahommes' salary actually begins to impact the cap and next year will get worse. Up until this point, Mahommes has been paid peanuts and the Chiefs have benefitted. This last season his cap hit was a bit over 7 million. This coming year it jumps to $35 and next season (2023) it jumps to almost $47 million. If you do not think that will impact the team, you are mistaken.
For the first time since Mahommes entered the league, the Raiders finally have the advantage of more cap space given the salaries each team's respective QBs allowing them more capital to build a better team. AND even though the Raiders do not have to......still people want them to cancel that advantage.

How can this be Signal?

How can this be Signal?
The Chiefs have benefitted from paying their QB diddly since Mahommes has entered the league. First on a rookie contract and then on a second contract that was very team friendly in the first couple of years. Look at the cap hit column:

#4 for Carr is quite fitting.
Jfc the way this day is unfolding, wouldn’t surprise me if the Raiders extend Carr on a 4-year/ $40 mill per deal. It would be poetic.

I think the money that Rodgers got is silly and well, do not see following in suit only to have the fourth best QB in the division and one that takes up a lot of cap space as a recipe for success. Just don't see it.

Keeping Carr just became about surviving the west

Trading Carr and getting draft capital and starting a rook....and having mounds of cap space that other teams will not have is the only recipe to combat these changes. To pay Carr huge money, only to have the fourth best QB in the division is a recipe for disaster for years to come.

Please Raiders. Please don’t try to play an “arms” race with the rest of the AFC West. We will lose 10 out of 10 times. 100 out of 100.
THE best move we can make now is to trade Carr and start packing this team with studs this year, and look to the QB class of ‘23.
Rolling out a fat new contract for the 4th best QB in our division is f[raiders_icon]cking suicide.

If this was McDaniels first go around as a HC I could see them considering trying to trade him for draft picks in this kind of market but with his history in Denver with the Cutler fiasco and Mark Davis in the way odds are the team will do something stupid and pay the current Qb 40 mil a year.
