So if it is just a "reload" how many more years of futility until it is considered a "rebuild"??? Not trading Carr while his stock is high again is gonna bite us in the ass bigtime...Simply aren't going to win anything with The Turd at QB and that's the bottom line, even moreso after Mark pays him huge $$$.
If it's a reload then they are theoretically going for it this season because if they extend the Qb those cap hits are going to start hurting likely from 2023 on.
So, perhaps they think this team has or will have enough talent to go far in the playoffs and the Qb is good enough to get it done.

We are not going to win anything with a playoff game choker and late season failure.
I don't care if our division has Bortles * 3 as competitors - we will always have a Garrapolo level QB in games that matter (late season and playoffs) - which means even with a top 3 defense and top 5 offense, we will never win the big game.
Foles, Flacco, Eli - these guys played their best football in the playoffs - Carr put up a sub 70 passer rating. Big difference.
It took 8 years to find out that Carr is terrible in the playoffs. Now that we have that question answered the front office should pull head from ass and grasp reality.
Treading water at .500 and occasional one and dones should not be a goal.
"But 4th quarter comebacks and stuff...."
These are the things Derek did well last year
4th Quarter Comebacks
Accuracy
Yards per pass
Big Time Passing (I guess that is a stat now)
Yards per game
These are the things Derek did poorly last year
Pocket awareness
Fumbles
INTs
TDs
Second half of season passing
Carr isn’t going anywhere
Key note here is mark Davis is not interested in going into a rebuild and you sure as hell aren’t “reloading” your team by trading away your QB to a team that doesn’t even have a f[raiders_icon]cking 1st round pick.
While your first sentence may be correct, I wouldn't say it with such glee. Highly likely we can find similar production for $3 to $5m, and who knows, might even find a guy who's good for more than half a season.
Not sure what you mean by "rebuild". A change at one position is not a rebuild in my book. In fact it would free up a ton of cap space to get better somewhere else. Not sure why so many have an issue with that.

Ha ha ha this thread is the very definition of echo chamber. The same 6-8 people posting the same stuff over and over while thanking each other. Keep on going boys as this thread isn’t going anywhere with an extension on the horizon.

I think Jamies would be a good stop gap he certainly could shoot it out with Mahomes, Wilson & Herbert, there’d be no worries about letting the ball go
No. That would be stupid - which is why I can’t see it happening. Whatever you’re trying to gain, you lose by not having a veteran QB taking snaps.
This is why fans need to take their emotions out of this. So eager to get rid of Carr, they are willing to set the franchise back multiple years to do it.

What QB is leading us to all those comeback wins for 8 million?
This is how fantasy football has ruined the sport
I used to frequent S&B Pride now and then, but can no longer. After the writers were all fired, intelligence vacated and Derek's legion of bedwetters moved in. I swear they make the Raider fan base look to be the the dumbest in the NFL. The fascination with this perennial loser is dumbfounding. It's a cult I tell ya!
Totally off topic, but a sociologist could produce an interesting thesis on the bizarre fandom of Derek Carr. I don't think anyone here falls into that category, but on other forums, some of the stuff they come up with, the way they talk about him, the self-created memes that run the gamut from banal to anime bordering on porn is so strange. I think this subset of fans skew younger, but I also think there are also other elements involved that you just don't normally see with football fans.
Carr supporters here seem to be more of what I think of as cheerleader types, which is nothing new or weird. They just support whomever the QB is, good or bad, because he's the guy playing the QB position.

So it’s a veteran QB now that makes or breaks a team’s chances? Does anything you say possess even a thimble-full of logic? How in the world did the Chiefs, Bengals, Bills, Ravens, Commies, and Bears make it to the playoffs last year without a true veteran QB? The Super Bowl was the Bucs vs. the Steelers right? Coupl’a old-head vets sligin’ the stone.
With our last playoff win happening in 2002, thank goodness we’re past the “rebuilding/reloading” stage. We’ve made it boys!!! The rest of the NFL trembles.

Never played fantasy football in my life.
You're talking about fantasy football... (stats kids love Derek) and keeping emotions out of it... They say "love" is the greatest emotion.
