Good move -- anything that helps us stay in the top two picks. I was for trading Maxx during the season and will be for trading him in the off-season. We need a dozen new, good players, not one or two. Maxx is still an awesome force but probably won't be in the fairly near future.

Maxx aside, guarantee anyone trying to make some big story on this would have made some contrary, "Why would you play him if the games no longer mattered?!," if he had stayed in and gotten seriously injured in the last two games.

All for sitting him as well, and that’s even if it culminates in him seeking a trade. He’s been a great Raider, but is closer to the downhill portion of his career than the peak.

Now this will mean nothing of course if the Raiders continue to be the worst run, worst drafting, worst everything organization in sports.

Hopefully Spytek is given full rein and actually has the talent to deserve it. No one else in the FO does.

You've got it right as far as I can see. It seems people are projecting massively.

I'd call it an overreaction to call it a suspicious tanking move to shut down a player who has been on the injury list for what seems like forever, when your ream is out of the playoffs. It's the right move for the team and also for the player, even if the player doesn't like it.

Maxx will get over it. The NFL won't be able to classify it as tanking.
