The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft

Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year. :cuss:

Gallery was drafted as a can't miss left tackle. Zuhn was drafted 91 as a guard. Gallery was a fairly good guard with his short arms.
Zuhn played tackle when he was in college. But because his arms are too short he projects as a guard. Gallery's career was saved when they moved him to guard. It was the only smart move that Cable ever made in his life.

Plus they introduced him as a safety. I fully believe he will be our starting free safety. And his college teammate will be ready for strong safety next year since both pola mao and chinn are both free agents next year

I think Dunker is a cool dude and a fun guy. There are parts of his game that concern me, so I wasn't as high on him as others.

We don't know what we have at the OT position with the exception of Miller.

Remember, our O-line players were meeting privately last year just to try and figure out WTF they were supposed to be doing. We may have more talent at the position than we realize. More likely than not we need to acquire at least two more by this time next year (or year after) but as others have said, nearly every hole a football team can have needed to be filled.

Still have to shake my head every time I hear it.

Wanted K Mac, but I still think he is an injury waiting to happen.
Meh on Dunker.

I haven't given up on Rogers and/or Grant. Id love to see at least one of them improve greatly. If one becomes a serviceable or better starter somewhere this year it would be huge.

They actually played well last year, but very very little and against somewhat weak late season lesser competition.

If anyone deserves a mulligan for last year though, first in line is the OL, especially the pups.

Grant showing out at RT would be the ideal dream. Or Rogers but Grant seems to have potential higher ceiling there. Definitely not anything we can count on but some reason for optimism.

For sure, that's fans acting whack same for Bech and Thronton.
No respect or patience with the player process.

Respectfully, I do not agree with that. Those guys were drafted by a clown who is no longer here. They were all Pete guys. We shouldn't have to be patient for guys who may not necessarily fit with Kubiak and every single one of them are upgradable. The process starts now. Not last year.

Has Spytek been fired? As i’m not mistaken Spytek was the one responsible for drafting Bech, Thornton, Grant & Rogers.

A year of NFL conditioning, sitting learning & developing might be a blessing in disguise for us with last years draft class

Spytek has repeatedly talked about building for the future with our draft picks so i don’t think Pete had as much input as people think

C'mon man, you cant be that naive. Pete was running the show. Its the only way they were able to get him here. Just like Kubiak wouldnt be here if they didnt guarantee him Mendoza.

I just hope they made the right move with Zuhn. At least one of Zuhn, Rodgers, or Grant better be starting this year or our GM is not drafting Oline very well.

...Small steps. Unless we're somehow worse than last year, I won't grade Spytek and KK based on this year.

It wouldn't surprise me is Zuhn started this year.
Who's he got to beat out that bum from SF or Meredith? I mean Meredith probably doesn't make the roster.

Where i do believe they were all in on the tank last year i don't think they would tank the draft also.

My opinion of Pete 2025 season is in his draft.
