The players union has been one of the strongest in the Nation. They seem to never back down on even small issues. Marvin Miller set the stage.

Its not that I disagree with MLB, I just know the players wont budge on most of the cuts the League wants.

Those have been around since 2008. I wouldn't call it a crutch as much as protection from gruesome hand injuries.

Yeah, I can see the safety value in them, they just look silly.

Certainly not a fashion statement. They have a hard shell on the top and bottom. Particularly useful for aggressive base stealers.

Bob Uecker used to do that with his shoes. It made him look like he was taking a bigger lead off 1st base.
