The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft

Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders:
“If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

Right lets get to at least 75.
....I think it is doable by mid season, barring major injury. ....we had what were considered to have been good value picks to bolster the line over the last few, and they were given absolutely no path to succeed....until now, and that wasted time on the field, should have allowed them to at least get stronger., as is pretty much always needed when jumping from college to the big league

Agreed Linderbaum plus Denison takes us to 50. Healthy Miller and Linderbaum healthy, getting close to average at RT, and having at least one G play well (JPJ, Zuhn, etc) and the other NFL average would bump us close to 75.
The numbers are play, just approximations, but their play is probably the most important factor for our offense/team. So Im focusing on it. There just isnt much information yet.
Also, it seems like anytime I've searched "Las Vegas Raiders" for news, theres never been a page without at least one proposed Maxx Crosby trade from some random. An ex players thoughts on the matter! Bla bla bla. And many articles still coming about what Maxx thinks about it now. Useless.

I think we all see some posters regularly baiting each other and bickering non-stop about semantics or over who might be the bigger troll. Thank you to the others - most people - who ignore those conversations and try to keep it civil and bring it back to actual discussion. There will be a few days without a few people clogging the boards with useless bickering.

I'm actually a bit torn now on trading Maxx. I was all for the Ravens trade, but now as I see the roster coming together, I like Maxx right where he has been.

Honestly, I kinda in reverse of that. When Bain fell to 14 it was kind of a gut punch. He would have been the perfect get for the switch to a 3-4. Would have a first next year along with our own to really push the rebuild forward.
Don’t get me wrong. Maxx is great. Happy he’s back. We’re just not ready with or without him.

Things can change quickly in the NFL. You never know what the team is capable of from one year to the next. The defense was not as bad as it seemed last year and was upgraded pretty heavily. The new offense fits the linemen on hand with the blocking scheme. If a few new pieces shine & Mendoza is real deal, anything is possible

I don’t disagree, it’s why I’m also happy he’s back. He’s an elite player. If and that’s a huge if, Mendoza is real then everything will begin to shift and having that piece is extremely valuable, if his body holds up.
Camp should be interesting as I think OL battle and DL news will be telling.

I was kind of hoping Charles Grant would have made enough progress to take Glaze's spot. Glaze hasnt been very impressive so far since hes been here.

Glaze showed potential his first season. Im not going to count anyone out based on last season. Don't want to hand him or anyone a spot. Hoping him or someone else steps up to take the job without question.

It’s just OTAs. We won’t have a real feel until training camp and preseason actually start.
