Yeah, for me, if half of our picks pan out well, I'd be fine with that.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 4:59 pm I don't hate the pick but Im not excited about it either. I feel best case scenario we get a few years out of him. I also feel we are a few years away from competing. It's only a 4th round pick so not a big gamble but it's not much different than signing a vet with only a few years left IMO
Don’t agree it’s best case scenario — I think there is a chance he has a normal career.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 4:59 pm I don't hate the pick but Im not excited about it either. That's my take don't count on him. But if he works out it's a big bonus. With all the DBs we got I don't think he is being counted on. Hoping he turns out to be a stealRaiders Baby wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 6:13 pm Don’t agree it’s best case scenario — I think there is a chance he has a normal career.
But it might be the most likely scenario that we only get a few years out of him.
And in that case, you are right that he’s basically the same as signing a short term vet. Not the worst player to have on your roster, but more of a bandaid than a long term solution.
We’ll see! Hopefully we get a normal career from him, worth the dice roll, but can’t make him the only plan there
Honestly for a lot of corners a few good years is a normal career. Doesnt get talked about the way it does for RBs but often times the cliff hits just as fast or faster - guys go from elite in the league to barely startable almost overnight.Raiders Baby wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 6:13 pm Don’t agree it’s best case scenario — I think there is a chance he has a normal career.

Man, I hope you’re wrong about that! I don’t know how many more years of waiting/hoping to see us return to greatness again many of us have left!FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 4:59 pm I don't hate the pick but Im not excited about it either. In recent years other teams have done it. Why not us?
Youre also getting that "vet" at a cut rate price of about 1 million/year.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 4:59 pm I don't hate the pick but Im not excited about it either. But it cost you a draft pick when there was a lot of talent still on the board. I don't hate the move I just hate seeing these injured players not work out. I hope he proves everyone wrong and has a long careerCruisin with Tooz wrote: Sat May 09, 2026 12:02 pm Youre also getting that "vet" at a cut rate price of about 1 million/year.
Semper Fi brother!

for many yrs the raiders have been used as big paydays and lazy playWNYRAIDER wrote: Sun May 10, 2026 3:18 pm ....how many times have we committed a boatload of cash to a big name vet, only to have him come, get seriously hurt, and give us little to nothing after.? Wilkins is the latest, but there have been others....
I'll be fine with taking this risk, with a 4th, and the expected contract to match, and with trusting in our staff to have made the same call,.
Good point. For every ageless Woodson, there are 25 guys who are elite for a short stretch but fall off a cliff.raiders93 wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 8:42 pm Honestly for a lot of corners a few good years is a normal career.
