The defense this season is nearly statistically identical to last season. I don’t really see much of a change. Graham doing what he does with below average personnel. Graham to me is the best coach on staff but that’s not saying a lot. I don’t think it will happen but I wouldn’t mind Carroll getting sacked and Graham interim just to see if there’s something there. He’s lasted the last three head coaches and clearly the players like him and he’s got adequate performance from no-name defenses save for Max. I just think maybe lucking into a good head coach maybe the only way it happens for this organization.

This is disingenuous at best. Especially when it comes to the defense. We returned by two or three starters from last year? Also, whatever blocking scheme they came up with for special teams units. This year has been terrible. I don’t ever remember so many field goals and punts blocked.heavyD wrote: Wed Nov 19, 2025 6:58 am Can anyone say Pete at 73 has the team playing harder and fundamentally better than AP? I don’t see it. Defensively it’s a wash but offensively they were marginally better under AP even without a big name running back or QB. Special teams were much better last season. AP’s main issue was game strategy and management but he had the players playing hard. This team under Pete looks no better despite supposedly upgrading at QB and RB while running back the same team.

If Pete deserves the door (which he does)… I don’t know what spytec did to warrant patience. The only silver lining would be if he had nothing to do with any of our choices this offseason.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 8:16 am Yea but changing coaches for us as of late has been the right move bc they've all sucked. When you know the guy isn't THE guy based on making a bad team worse and you know you settled, it's obvious things won't improve. Add in the age of Pete, getting rid of him is the right move. And Chip isn't worth a damn in the NFL. I do agree with keeping Spytek though. He deserves a shot to get his QB. Pete thought he had his QB when everyone else knew how bad Geno Smith was.
I mean, a big reason we’re here is not necessarily Pete or Geno… it’s an offseason that seen us return a shitty o-line, return the same shitty receivers, and watch almost our entire defence leave in free agency. None of our signings will likely been on the team this time next year.
We then proceeded to spent our most valuable asset on a great RB… who unfortunately gets killed behind a terrible line every week. Beyond that the rest of the draft has been a disaster. Our 2 rookie receivers have 14 catches combined. Our 2 rookie linemen have played 1 snap between them. And these are position groups where they should almost have to start because we’re so thin.
I’m not stanning for Pete… I’m just not sure how Spytec is any less culpable in creating this mess. To me the only logic to keep either is that they hold the least desirable HC and GM jobs in the league that it’s unlikely we’d have a chance at any top candidates.

Don’t want to have to go one and done on another HC but if I’m Spytek and Mark by default, I’m telling Pete, you have to fire Chip, possibly Patrick Graham, and definitely his son at the end of the season. If he’s not ok with this, he’s gone, I’m not going through another season with Brennan Carrol at Oline coach and ruining a possible franchise rookie QB. Im going to assume for a moment Pete will walk if you make him fire his son and tell him how run his coaching staff.

Well that's exactly it. I don't believe Spytek had anything to do with our choices. I believe Pete had full say. That being said, if they decided to get rid of Spytek, I wouldn't lose any sleep.raiders93 wrote: Wed Nov 19, 2025 9:55 pm If Pete deserves the door (which he does)… I don’t know what spytec did to warrant patience. I had hope for Pete has never really had a bad record except a couple sprinkled in over many many years..but this is just hard to watch. The terrible line with zero depth was something us couch coaches knew of last year. Combine that with a QB who is not looking downfield and instead scored to death and I hate it.
I’d keep Spytek and the young potential studs the front office has..
I’d like Shula(Rams DC) or Scheelhaase(Passing Game) to come in and interview and see if they are game for a rebuild and get their thoughts on building the OL and developing a young QB

Age matters. Is anyone surprised Aaron Rogers at 41 is a mere shadow of what he once was? Pete has had a fantastic NFL coaching career but he’s 74 years old. It’s bad enough you Americans keep voting for geriatric presidents that shit their pants, fall asleep at events, suffering major cognitive decline, etc, because the reality is that people in their 70’s are nowhere near as effective in their careers or even mundane daily tasks as their prime years. A lot of them need help to get simple things done. Pete looks old like a guy that doesn’t have answers for what’s going on around him. Akin to Geno staring down a defense in the pocket and things are simply moving too fast for him to process and he ends up taking a sack because he’s just not up to the task. Being the head coach of an NFL team is simply too much of an undertaking for him at this advanced age and really there were signs years ago in Seattle he was slipping and now he’s even older.
Like others I hate the idea of another one and done coach but we aren’t talking about giving a young coach a 2nd season to find his footing. Pete’s slipping daily into old age. I think this is a one and done that can be easily justified given Carroll’s age and obvious decline.

I really would be interested in hiring Notre Dame's coach. He seems like a great motivator and runs a really good system.

If we draft our franchise qb in the 1st round and you want him paired with the next genius OC, that OC is going to want the HC job. If you hire a DC as HC, what reason does that OC have to take a lateral move here? Ignoring the fact its not even a lateral move, it's a backward move for that OC. And even if you do manage to land him, every year he's going to be interviewing elsewhere for a HC job. With your new franchise qb, hire the target OC as HC.HesterLayes wrote: Thu Nov 20, 2025 3:29 am I had hope for Pete has never really had a bad record except a couple sprinkled in over many many years..but this is just hard to watch. yes exactly
As shitty as the QB is ... a non-shitty O-line makes the QB a little less shitty ... a few less INTs, a few less INCs ... a few more good runs by the RB ... a few more 1st downs ... a few more TD's ... fewer minutes the Defense has to be on the field. A few more points for us, and a few less points for the opposition.
The Trenches are the Raiders bed .... somebody shit the bed.

Yea well, a non shitty QB makes the O line less shitty. Watch the tape. At least half of the sacks are on Geno.Tatum wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 6:12 pm yes exactly
