Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?
Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.
At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

OK, value is a relative term. He is as valuable as someone is willing to pay. If a team feels that Maxx is the difference maker, the value artificially inflates. And if there are multiple teams interested, that again artificially inflates his value. You keep saying he is not worth two first round picks but that is not entirely true. A first in the next draft and a first in the draft after does not equate to the same value as two in the next draft. Future drafts (2027 in this example) is actually not the same as a pick in 2026. I know that sounds off but that is accurate.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 2:09 am Bradley Chubb and Von Miller weren't premier pass rushers? Miller himself helped the Rams win a super bowl that year. And Mack was better in his prime then Maxx is now which is why he went for two fcking 1sts and why i left him off. Mack was in the same tier then as Parsons, Watt and Garrett are now. And Maxx is not. Imagine not having a clue of the NFL outside of Raider land. Your precious Maxx isn't worth two 1sts. I know you like to stalk my posts but you should do some research before you open your mouth.
And to further the point, while Maxx is not prime Mack in talent (it is close but Mack was far better vs the run) he is about the same as when we traded Mack to the Bears and that garnered us two firsts. Again, value is subjective and also dependent upon need and level of interest and the number of parties interested. Our team might say his value is two firsts to ensure we would get where we value him. Other teams might disagree. We don't know what has been discussed. We also do not know what the discussions internally are happening.
It may very well be true what we have heard in that the Cowboys have made inquiries. It also may very well be true that Maxx and the team have agreed he is not for sale. We can be assured many teams have kicked the tires. We just don't know how serious teams have been nor do we actually know if a team out there is serious enough to give up multiple picks for him.
To trade Maxx, you have to have a serious player in the market willing to give up what the Raiders would want. We don't know if that level of offer is on the table. You could be right and we are willing to deal him for a day one and a day two pick. Or, and I have serious belief that this is true, we have closed the door to any offers or that the offers are not worth moving him. Bottom line, if he is moved, it is because we got what we feel he is worth. If he is not, we either had no intention of moving him or we were low balled. For now, he is a Raider, and this will play out over the next 13 days.

Ever think they got those picks so they could, oh, I don't know, make two picks in the draft? Jerrah might be thinking he can pull off another dynasty level move. Just a thoughtSloth_Fratelli wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 4:42 am Cuz they have 2 extra #1’s now. House money they can play with

I agree that I do not believe the Raiders are going to trade him but that's bc I truly believe they don't have a clue what they are doing. That's clearly evident as of late. Of course value is a relative term but what I'm saying is I do not believe ANY team will give up two 1sts for Maxx Crosby based on the fact that he is just not a game wrecker. I think a team that already has an established edge rusher on the other side would benefit the most from trading for Maxx, which the Cowboys do not have but let's face it, its the Cowboys. Its one of the reasons why early on, i wanted us to trade for Hendrickson or Parsons so we could have 2 really good pass rushers and build on a strength. Obviously that ship has sailed now since we need to be selling, not buying.Attyla wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 5:41 am OK, value is a relative term. He is as valuable as someone is willing to pay. Also, Mack was 1 year younger than Maxx is now when we traded him and was far more effective at all aspects of playing edge rusher than Maxx is right now. That matters and can be used as a value gauge. Mack was clearly worth two 1sts. If a team offers two 1sts for Maxx or if it comes out the Cowboys offered two 1sts, I will eat crow. But I would do everything possible to trade him and put him out of his misery while also benefiting our team. These people are so stuck on the Maxx love and don't want to let him go for selfish reasons while also not caring that we are holding the team hostage by doing so. It's ridiculous.

I don't know that the motivation would be selfish that a fan would want to keep Maxx. I can see the argument for keeping him and it not be a selfish reason. Keeping Maxx can send a message that we are not giving up on the goals we have for the team over the next 2 1/2 seasons. Messages can be powerful motivators. But I can also see the argument for moving him. His skill set is a luxury for a team in yet another rebuild. Can anyone point to a year since 2002 where we were not in rebuild mode? And I am not talking intention but reality.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 6:05 am I agree that I do not believe the Raiders are going to trade him but that's bc I truly believe they don't have a clue what they are doing. But, and I hate to admit this, try as I can, I went against myself yet again and sipped the Kool Aid. I thought we could get to 8 or so wins. I certainly did not think Geno would suck as bad as he has.

I can’t see the team trading Crosby unless he wants out. A team does not get better by trading their best player. There’s already plenty of holes on the roster and I fail to see what creating more roster holes accomplishes. Its highly unlikely they draft a better player or even a competent starter with whatever draft picks they may receive. It’s akin to getting worse for the sake of change which is bad business.

I'm actually surprised Crosby doesn't WANT out. It's hard being a fan of the team, I can't imagine having to play through it.

Your logic is severely flawed. A terrible, obvious rebuilding team does not get better by NOT trading an aging player with zero current value on said team. Fixed it for you.heavyD wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 8:34 am I can’t see the team trading Crosby unless he wants out. A team does not get better by trading their best player. Zero current value? What the hell are you talking about? The only thing you should focus on fixing is your bad takes. Lol downvote? Ok weirdo lol. Anyway,I didn't think it was that hard to figure out but I'll ask. What value does Maxx Crosby have on this team right now. What is he bringing to this loser, trash ass team right now. Please enlighten me.heavyD wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 9:39 am Zero current value? What the hell are you talking about? I love answering questions like this. The values he provides is the example of work ethic, being a complete teammate to everyone around him. By giving it your all even when the product stinks without complaint. These things teach more to younger players than we can imagine. Does it translate to anything? Who can say but if even one player steps up as a result you grow your team.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 9:47 am Lol downvote? Shut up with that nonsense weirdo lol. You have said Bowers is untradeable. I agree but your statement seems at odds with this notion. If the organization if trash, are we not wasting Bowers best years as well?

Brock Bowers is 22 years old and is a superstar who will likely be the best at his position for a long time. Idk, i thought i have been very clear on the Maxx thing. He's 28 and will be over 30 by the time we're relevant again (if we're lucky). He is literally rotting and being wasted here. All that work ethic, teammate, leader, rah rah shit is so f[raiders_icon]cking overrated. How's it been working out for us? Players care about one thing. Cash f[raiders_icon]cking money. That's it.Attyla wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 9:57 am I love answering questions like this. The values he provides is the example of work ethic, being a complete teammate to everyone around him. Dunno man, I see value in the rah rah stuff and to be quite honest, while Maxx got paid and such, you can see that he plays for more than just the cash. Passion can be infectious and one guy can change the entire culture.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Oct 22, 2025 10:03 am Brock Bowers is 22 years old and is a superstar who will likely be the best at his position for a long time. Hearing more chatter that the meeting did in fact happen and all parties were in agreement that Maxx is not getting traded. This meeting took place yesterday per what I am hearing.
