I turned 75 years old this morning....
Born May 30, 1951 in Eureka California. Been a Raiders fan since September 1969. So most of my 3/4 of a century has been with the Silver and Black. I'll never give up the hope of winning a fourth Lombardi Trophy. Two major health issues in the book now, and slowly getting better from each surgery. The support from the Forum was wonderful and so much appreciated. It gave my wife a new angle on Raiders fans and football fans in general.
If you care to, tell me if you are in your 70's. Just curious but no big deal.

The very best bands I have ever seen live not in order:
The Who
Lyle Lovett and His Large Band
Moby Grape
The Electric Flag
Buddy Guy
Jimi Hendrix
Richard Thompson
Weather Report
Saw Weather Report along with Chick Corea back in the 70's.

I saw Weather Report in 1977 at Winterland with the great Jaco Pastorius on bass. Great show with openers being the Lenny White Group and Al Dimeola (just had reached his popularity point).raidersince63 wrote: Sat Jun 06, 2026 5:35 pm Huge Lyle Lovett fan..."Pontiac" is a great album, front to back.

I have seen Lovett maybe 13 times with acoustic band (bluegrass/country oriented) and electric (the Large) band (jazz/blues/country). Super great musicians. I also saw just him and John Hiatt doing acoustic sitting on stools trading songs and stories. Fantastic.

I had forgotten about Lenny White...was also listening to a lot of Pat Moratz, Frank Zappa, George Duke, Stanley Clarke, and Al Dimeola back then.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Sat Jun 06, 2026 5:52 pm I saw Weather Report in 1977 at Winterland with the great Jaco Pastorius on bass. Speaking of Stanley Clarke, I had never heard of him until I went to see a Chick Corea show and was right up front and on the left side of the stage was this guy playing bass who had the longest fingers I had ever seen and did things with his bass that I had never seen or heard before. Anyway, he later came out with a solo album named "Journey To Love", I bought it and was blown away again. Among others, Jeff Beck I believe also made an appearance on the album.
Here's "Silly Putty" with Stanley Clarke, Steve Gadd – Drums |David Sancious – Guitar |George Duke – Synthesizers, Organ.

IMO, Return to Forever's "Romantic Warrior" was a truly groundbreaking album. Not that they invented progressive jazz, but it made that form of jazz very popular. I wish I saw that band. I did see Chick Corea's Elektic Band two times (at Joshi's in Oakland) and I got super into it. I loved the guitar work of Frank Gambale and Dave Weckl is one of the best drummers I have ever seen. Ever.

Richard Thompson should have been a huge star. Right up there as one of the greatest guitarists ever.
He's had a great career and done well but nowhere near as much as his talent deserves.

If I remember right, in Rolling Stone Magazine's initial list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists" of all time, he was something like 23rd. In a subsequent publication of that list, they had dropped him way down. Have they seen him live? He doesn't do much electric anymore (Strat man), but he is damn good on both acoustic and electric guitar. I saw him recently he was great as usual. His song-writing is also what separates him from the pack.Pseudoscot wrote: Sun Jun 07, 2026 11:51 pm Richard Thompson should have been a huge star. Have you debated any of the list in "Marks Barber Shop? Think Willmark put it together.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Mon Jun 08, 2026 2:44 pm If I remember right, in Rolling Stone Magazine's initial list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists" of all time, he was something like 23rd. Hello Hub,
Happy belated 75th birthday. I was in the bad boy room for past week or I would have messaged earlier. You got me by 8 years bro. I started with the S & B in 1967 by my Grandfather who had Raiders season tickets from
Day 1 in 1960 and would not allow his grandson to root for any other team other than the Oakland Raiders. He brought me to 2-3 games each year for the next 5 years to make sure that I was fully Silver and Black forever.
Happy Birthday again. also, very glad to hear that your health has gotten much better.
