For those who question his age. The coach isn't playing in the game. He needs a strong experienced decision making mind the the ability to stand for 3-4 hours on Sundays. Peter can do that and more.
Its nice to have a coach without training wheels.
Just need a dynamic OC.
Yep and lets watch some PC's of his and see if he still has it, shouldn't take long to figure that out. If he does he's the safest HC bet there was and literally our best HC hire at the time of hiring ever. Jim Hairball may want to go back to college now. Pete ran him off last time.

And . . . breathe. We got a GM and coach. So people can settle down about getting bottom of the barrel Gm's, leftover head coaches and being left at the altar. Also,, calling Brady an idiot or a bust who is not helping at all can fade away.
Now to panicking about an OC/DC and why we haven't hired one yet and how we are going to get bottom of the barrel leftovers if we don't hire both by noon.
Not on board with this hire! I wanted a younger coach with an offensive mind to help develop a young team. His record the last three years in Seattle, 7-10, 9-8 and 9-8.
I think we could have done better! Odd we chased Johnson as our primary target, then hit the brakes and hire the opposite end of the spectrum.
I think most of us wanted a younger guy but the reality is we can’t attract one right now. Pete can build a good culture of hard work and respect as we build to a place that the young hot guys want to come to.
apparently Mark Davis never bought a used car
I agree with you 100% but the problem is, he was likely the 2nd best candidate available after Johnson was hired.

But I don’t think any hot young offensive mind wants to come here while we don’t have a QB and no shot at getting the only one with a consensus round one grade.
With this hire, the greatness of the Raiders is in its present.
At his age, length of contract, and team needs I'd expect the trading of draft picks for players to win now and we all know the taste of that meal. See Carson.
Maybe I'm wrong but don't be suprised when we trade the farm for Dak or something stupid I don't want.
That is not how Pete built teams with the Seahawks. I don't see a coach changing up a formula that worked for him.

Only a matter of time before Russell Wilson is here imo
Far beeter than what we have and would be a good bridge, and not too expensive
Him and spytek should be able to put together a functioning organization. Sucks to have to succession plan from day 1, but it is what it is.
On the flip side it could attract a very good or on the verge coordinator, knowing he's going to get his shot in a few years

But Carroll had personnel control in Seattle, I don't think he'll have it with the Raiders. Spytek will want to help get Carroll what he thinks he needs but I think Spytek has the authority to do what the organization needs long term.

Maybe he's here to stabilize the franchise for a few years while bringing back respectability and handing it off to his successor in a much better place, and then be in a position to compete for a Super Bowl. I think this front office knows it's not a qb away from contending. It's going to be a weird feeling having a front office that's competent and has a plane and vision

No one else fit the bill. Coen just didn't seem ready to me and all of his bouncing around the last few years concerned me. Plus, we dodged something like KK happening again. That whole thing with what went down with Jacksonville chaps my hide.
