Probably right. I remember Al wanted to interview him when he was with Parcells in Dallas and Bill advised him not to even interviewWillmark wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 7:07 am I have a sneaking suspicion that Payton wanted no part of the Raiders disfunction.

I think Carroll is an unmitigated disaster thus far but I'm not in favor of firing him. We have $30 mill in dead cap next year. Every new regime has inherited the f[raiders_icon]ckups of the previous. Let's let the dead money slide off the books, and stockpile picks for 2027. If he shits his pants again in 2026, we're primed for the new coach to kick off the rebuild with a full set of resources.

Except there is a minor flaw with your logic. We need a QB in 2026. We can't wait until 2027. So if this season ends in historical fashion like its heading, and i may be in the minority but what else is new, Pete needs to go. We will need a new coach for our "franchise QB" to grow with. Bc it won't be Pete at damn near 80 years old and failing miserably. There's just no good outcome here.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 1:26 pm I think Carroll is an unmitigated disaster thus far but I'm not in favor of firing him. The Raiders are going to need multiple picks in the first 3 rounds or a 1st year QB with picks to get any young imaginative coach to take the job.

We need to take the pain and off gramps (I am sure both parties will ultimately want this). No disrespect to Pete (he seems like a good guy) but why wait? Is another firing going to tarnish the reputation of our stellar franchise? I said it before and I'll say it again. We need a young stud offensive minded coach from the college ranks. Break the bank (we have to because of our shit franchise) and get it done. I am fine with Spytek. He needs to have absolute power in the administration. No Mark. No Brady. He is the boss and give him the reigns. I do not think he has done anything that doesn't warrant another year. Let him pick HIS coach (not dufus).

Getting a T3 pick where the new coach can get his guy without giving up a king's ransom for his QB would change my take. But if we're outside the top 5 firing Carroll is literally a repeat of what we have been doing. The new regime will have little opportunity to find a QB, and firing the HC year after year makes it hard to attract top FAs. If we go into 2026 with a similar situation to this past off-season I'm not sure there is a coach out there that has the magic cure for what's ailing usBoKnows81 wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 1:59 pm Except there is a minor flaw with your logic. I hear what you're saying but here's my thing. Actually 2 things. I don't buy into the "not giving a coach enough time" stuff. Sometimes you just know that the guy isn't THE guy. There were several of us that knew this early on, just like AP. So why wait? Bc in my opinion, the game has already passed him by and its only gonna get worse. Not to mention, Pete has done nothing to show us that what he's currently doing, is working or will work. In fact, its been the exact opposite. From the abomination he created with the O line to the complete disaster that is Geno Smith to keeping Graham. Just bad decision after bad decision. It would make no sense to draft a QB with this current regime. You wanna keep Spytek? Fine, you could talk me into that. But Pete, Graham and Chip gotta GO.NoThanksSir wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 3:09 pm Getting a T3 pick where the new coach can get his guy without giving up a king's ransom for his QB would change my take. Hired Allen, fans were yay!RI RAIDER wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 6:15 am Dr., many drank the koolaid and there is nothing wrong with it. For starters, just getting rid of AP was huge (as it was with McDouche). Secondly, many thought Pete (veteran coach who has had success) would bring some stability that the franchise sourly needed. I thought Chip was a great hire (what do fck do I know). Hopefully someone, somewhere can guide Mark (good guy who knows dick about football). I know he had people he could lean on (I do not know who they are now). Obviously, bowl cut boy is in way over his head. Hopefully, Spytek and Brady can guide him. We desperately need a young, offensive minded coach (preferably from the college ranks).

Two happiest days a Raiders fan experiences. When they hire, then fire, the next head coach. It’s like owning a boat or time share!

Firing the coach and GM again isn’t the answer imo. It’s never worked before. The core has been rotten. Bad signings, bad trades, bad drafts. I get that Geno has become the worst version of himself but I don’t think you give up on the entire regime 5 weeks in. There’s gonna be a lot of roster turnover and I think you have to let Spy/Pete have the 3 years. If we are at the top of the draft PC won’t be allowed to not draft a qb.
Honestly if you fired them after the season who would want to come here? No one does anyway but no new coach worth a shit will come somewhere they know they have to have immediate results or they’ll be fired.
Chip Kelly can pound sand though, I don’t think PC wanted him anyway.

Mark is a hot mess and needs to let real football people be decision makers. Stay out of the selection of the coach and give power to the GM. No more package deals, wonder twins experiments, or sticking his nose in the process while a GM eats it (basically desperate to get the job). I am fine with Spytek and giving him more time. He deserves to bring his guy in. Again, no disrespect to Pete. He is not the answer and at best he was a stop gap coach. At worst (what we are seeing now) is a disconnect between some players and the coach. Losing is a mother f[raiders_icon]cker and will bring dirty laundry to the forefront. If it continues, there will be a mutiny (Max is going to have to get some ink removed). I was fine with both Gino and Pete (my mistakes have hit triple digits). I was DEAD ASS wrong. Hopefully, Mark can admit to his mistakes once again (he is getting good at this aspect).
