What QB is leading us to all those comeback wins for 8 million?
This is how fantasy football has ruined the sport
ironically Eli is high on the list of comeback wins. So is Vinnie. Neither of those guys are that great over all, although Eli played great when it mattered the most. It does not take a great QB to do a fourth quarter victory from behind. It just take a guy who was behind for 3 quarters to have the chips fall just right. As a matter of fact, in Carr's come from behind heroics, 16 of those game his QB ranking is below 100 and in some of them well below.

This is how fantasy football has ruined the sport
First, the term "comeback win" is too vague to be meaningful. If a team is down by 2 points at the start of the 4th quarter, but then kicks a field goal to go up by 1 point and subsequently wins the game by that 1 point, is it really fair to call it a "comeback win"?
To my mind a comeback should mean that a two score deficit has to be overcome in the 4th quarter. But even that isn't a very good standard because what if the 4th quarter starts and your team has the ball 1st and goal on the 1 yard line?
Really, a comeback win is something that's nearly impossible to measure. It's a classic case of you know it when you see it, but different people will have different opinions on what they saw.
For example, Carr got a lot of credit for the "comeback win" against Cleveland. He got us into FG territory at the end of the game and we won. But the Browns secondary was super depleted. They were playing with 2nd and 3rd string guys in almost their entire backfield. Carr should have been able to carve up what amounted to a preseason secondary. The game should have never been so close that last minute heroics were needed. Instead, he bumble-f[raiders_icon]cked his way through by struggling against an easy opponent.

Each day I come on here and not read that Carr has been extended is a good one.
It isn't much but it does allow me to retain the little hope I have for this new regime and its prospects moving forward.
Just saying...
Totally off topic, but a sociologist could produce an interesting thesis on the bizarre fandom of Derek Carr. I don't think anyone here falls into that category, but on other forums, some of the stuff they come up with, the way they talk about him, the self-created memes that run the gamut from banal to anime bordering on porn is so strange. I think this subset of fans skew younger, but I also think there are also other elements involved that you just don't normally see with football fans.
Carr supporters here seem to be more of what I think of as cheerleader types, which is nothing new or weird. They just support whomever the QB is, good or bad, because he's the guy playing the QB position.
I'm a Raiders fan. I don't fall in love with players and no longer purchase player jerseys. As long as a player is part of the Raiders I'm pulling for them to be their best. I am fully aware that Carr isn't an elite QB but I consider him in the 2nd tier above average and I think it's silly to think there are better options out there as the draft guarantees nothing and the fact that two teams in successive seasons were willing to trade for Carson Wentz just goes to show how bad things can be if your team has a below average QB. I simply don't see the point of being part of a pity party here with a bunch of fans that would rather wallow in misery than look at positives. If a person never knew anything about the NFL and just read this thread they would think the Raiders have the worst QB in the NFL or something. The Raiders have made the playoffs twice since the 2002 season and Carr is responsible for both of them. I'm simply not willing to go back to the dark days because of a 1/1000 chance the Raiders could draft a better one. I feel the new regime will do the right thing and if that means extension then great and if it doesn't then I'm fine with that. Zeigler and McDaniels know what they are doing and I will run with their decision and as always hope for the best. This thread though is straight up twilight zone.
So if it is just a "reload" how many more years of futility until it is considered a "rebuild"??? Not trading Carr while his stock is high again is gonna bite us in the ass bigtime...Simply aren't going to win anything with The Turd at QB and that's the bottom line, even moreso after Mark pays him huge $$$.
I’m not disagreeing I’m just pointing out what is likely to happen and Mark’s mistaken (IMO) belief this isn’t a rebuild.
It’s as if he can’t fathom or won’t admit the possibility that the 2021 team massively overachieved. He seems to believe it’s the start of something. While possible, I don’t think that’s probable.

Love how you just pulled those odds out of your ass that your entire argument is dependent upon. Go figure.
And to come to the realization that Carr is not that QB who will rise to the occasion and bring a SB to the Raiders is not to be a part of the pity party but rather to simply want to speak realistically about the Raiders as opposed to as you put it a cheerleader. Sorry if I don't pick up the pom poms.

I think that is rounds 8 through 124 in the draft. It is not televised, just trust him.

252 QBs have been drafted in the first round in the super bowl era, 27 total QBs have been inducted into the HOF in that same era in total. 9 of them were first rounders. So 243 QBs taken in the first round failed to be truly elite.
Just because you do not get an elite QB in the draft does not mean you settle. You gotta keep swinging that bat because only 9 QBs drafted in the first round have won Super Bowls but when you get that one guy he can win you multiple one's. I know this is not logical because wins and losses are a team stat despite seeing wins and losses associated with QBs but finding that guy should be an endless search.

Even when they had Brady, they were still taking stabs at QBs from time to time. You can always turn them into draft capital later with a trade if not needed and well there are no guarantees that your starter remains healthy.
I would be shocked if Ziegler does not take a swing in the next two drafts. It just makes sense to swing from time to time at the most important position in football. And the fact that Josh last season worked with a rook QB and still managed to make the playoffs seems to suggest that the new regime would be less averse to drafting QBs if and when one falls their way that they like.

For the posters talking about panicking, I for one am not panicking, I just don't think the Raiders can win a Lombardi with Carr.
I felt the same way about Garoppolo with the niners. Of course it's just an opinion, but it's my opinion. I've seen Carr play every game of his career, so I think I've seen enough to feel a certain way about him.
Seems like a good dude in all, but not a QB who makes players around him better. Again it's my opinion lol.

No 40M dollar extension yet.
Maxx first. A DE over the most important player in football.
Just saying there's hope for some of you
