Giving up a 3rd is not going to prevent team building long term. Yes the guarentees in the contract will matter and hopefully this gives them a couple seasons to find their future. So much over reacting.
Correct move is saving draft capital FOR THE FUTURE.
Pete is 74 and stated several times with Brady and Spytek the plan is to win now. How is this surprising? There was never a chance they were rolling back into next season with AOC and a rookie.
Personally a 3rd is too high. I’d have been ok with a 4th so it’s not too crazy but the contract will be the final piece to shape whether it was good or not. If he gets the 40ish he wants then this wasn’t a good deal. If it’s in 30s then I can accept it as a smart deal.
Exactly my thoughts....not sure why we couldn't have made due with a 4th and a conditional future 4th at the most. Not sure anyone else would have given a 3rd regardless of how much Seattle was asking
I don’t need to stalk them, they are everywhere lol. Sam Darnold has played one good season with perfect conditions around him, in all other instances he was complete dogshit. Geno has shown for the past several seasons he’s more than serviceable and his familiarity with Pete will help. It’s just sports bro and I’m sure by the end of next season I’ll be seeing pro Geno posts coming from your way.
In my posts, I've acknowledged the risk that comes with signing Darnold. But you should know that.
Anyway, at least that risk wouldn't of cost us a 3rd round pick. And no, you def won't be seeing pro Geno posts from me or anyone else. Bc there will be no "pros"

Jalen McMillan was the 92nd pick last year. Decent WR3, not a franchise changer. I’m starting to feel like I’m the only one that watched the Minshew games.
Geno is a big upgrade over AOC, it’s not really a question. He’s here to keep our O decent as we develop the guy who gets us over the finish line.
Big up grade?
Proof?

I get people not liking Geno, but saying he isn't better than O'Connell is nuts. Geno is a better starting QB than O'Connell in every possible way.

Out of all the free agent and potential trade Qbs out there, who would be better than Geno?
There really wasn't much to pick from.
Now draft a stud to learn under Geno and the coaches.

We yo keep things in perspective, there isn't a lot of QBs in FA. We could have ended up with no one, and had AOC and Bradley. I like AOC but we need depth. A 4th would have been better but no way Seattle gives up their starting QB for a 4th. Be realistic. Teams aren't looking to help other teams make good trades.
