Ron Wolf highly recommended Reggie to Mark (so did Madden), and I'm sure Ron hoped and believed Reggie would be a good GM, but the fact that Ron's son was then promoted to Reggie's old job in Green Bay represented an obvious conflict of interest for the elder Wolf.

And yes, Reggie had one great season as GM, but the team fell apart the next year, suggesting the 12-4 season was a fluke.

The fact that former Executive of the Year Reggie McKenzie has never received a second GM job (and only a handful of interviews) in the six seasons since his departure shows what the NFL in general thinks of his GM abilities.
He let the Titans draft Derrick Henry the next pick after his second round selection. But don't worry, he drafted the future HoFer Jihad Ward over Henry, so he redeemed himself.

Tom Brady Denies Role in Raiders Draft, Contradicting Team Leaders

“I wasn’t a part of any evaluation process,” Brady said Tuesday on the Impaulsive podcast when asked why Sanders slipped to the fifth round.

Brady’s statement seems to contradict previous comments from Raiders owner Mark Davis and GM John Spytek.

In January, Davis said, “Bringing in Tom Brady was bringing in somebody that was on the football side that I had been lacking having here in the organization.” After the draft, Spytek told The Athletic, “When we are looking at quarterbacks, we’d have to be fools not to involve him.”

His only involvement centered around recommending North Dakota State’s quarterback Cam Miller.

When someone brought up the comments from the veteran media personality, Brady had a quick eye roll before going after the media at large.

“That’s a problem with the media. Everyone can just say whatever the f*** they want and get away with it. It’s kind of unfortunate ’cause there actually used to be a lot of integrity in media, and there’s way less now.”

As time goes on, I am so glad Pete is here and not Ben Johnson.

Q: What have been your early impressions of being around Pete Carroll in the facility and out here at practice?

Jeanty: “Yeah, he’s dope. He is everything everybody says he is - attention to detail, just a great coach, great energy, great personality, and I’m excited to continue building a relationship with him.”

Q: There’s still a little bit of a debate about how your horse game went against Pete Carroll. Have you guys had a rematch to settle it? Where does that stand now?

Jeanty: “No, we ain’t had a rematch yet, but I’m sure in the near future, he’ll put me back on the hoops.”

Q: What was your first impression of an NFL practice and playing under Pete Carroll?

Bech: “You’ve got to be conditioned. You’ve got to run, especially being a receiver, you have to be able to run all day. And I think obviously, conditioning on your own and football conditioning, it’s a little different. But as you practice more and more, the better you get in football condition. So like I said, I’m just excited to keep coming out here and keep learning under one of the greatest coaches ever, and keep sharpening not only my physical skill set, but my mental skill set too.”

Q: Did you see Pete Carroll practicing his back pedal warmups? What do you think of him bringing that kind of enthusiasm to rookie minicamp?

Porter: “I think it’s awesome to have your head coach out there giving you that one-on-one, or with the other cornerbacks, giving you those kinds of tips with his gloves on. He’s out there working on his press. So, it’s funny, but I really appreciate it. And to see that kind of energy at rookie minicamp early in the process is awesome.”

Q: What can you say about those standards that Pete Carroll has been setting for this group so far out here, and how the group has embraced it?

Rogers: “One, I mean you can tell Pete Carroll has been doing this forever, so it’s amazing to be able to play for him. And so, he’s very backed by his knowledge and where he’s been and what he’s done. And so, when he’s giving his standards, the way he’s telling us how it’s going to be, he’s also backing it with where he’s been and how he’s done it before. And so, it’s really easy for all of us to buy in, and I mean he makes it exciting, so it’s even easier.”
I remember Nnamdi wasnt very good the first couple years.
Woodson would have elevated his game, but also would have made it tougher on him. Just like when he was the best corner on the roster, teams just ate up the other side of the field and let Nnamdi's side alone.

They would just have stopped throwing to Woodson's side of the field.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/ra ... 00680.html
Meh.......... I'll wait and see what he brings at this level. Again...... I'm not dissing the kid, he was fantastic in college. I just don't think he's going to be nearly as prolific in the NFL.... especially on both sides of the ball. Maybe I'm just old and cynical.

Pete Carroll has been known to run a 4-3 under defensive alignment. Does anyone know if we plan on running the same?
Pete Carroll has been known to run a 4-3 under defensive alignment. Does anyone know if we plan on running the same?
Pete Carroll generally doesn’t call the plays he lets his coordinators do that like Dan Campbell does for the Lions

Pete is more of a strategist type, which i think works in the NFL pretty well. So i can him leaving scheme upto them aswell.

Whilst his OC & DC are getting the players ready he is looking at the strengths & weaknesses of the opposition to devise a plan to negate those strengths whilst taking advantage of the chink in the armour he can see.

I think the days of HC calling plays is slowly coming to an end & we’re rolling more to the OC /DC play calling

Raiders HC Pete Carroll said he is regularly in contact with minority owner Tom Brady, yet noted that Brady does not work at the team facility.

“We’re phone buddies. He hasn’t been out here but one time since we’ve been here, but we’ve talked a ton of times, and talking philosophy with Tom, you can imagine what a thrill it is because he’s the all-time competitor,” Carroll said on Brock & Salk. “It’s not just how he played, it’s how he lived, and how he sees the world, and how he attacks every opportunity he has. We’re so eye to eye on that it’s been a blast. It’s really been fun. The challenge of it is to bring that mentality and connect it to our entire franchise.”

“When Tom came on board here it changed my outlook to come here,” Carroll added. “I thought that would be one of the great opportunities of all time, to have his presence. His presence is strong. John Spytek and him go back a ton of years and Johnny holds him in the highest regard. So we’re trying to infuse Tom’s mentality, we’re trying to bring it into the organization, because it’s so good and so unique and so one of a kind, I think it helps us to be a one-of-a-kind franchise.”
