Not a big deal, almost forgot he's in the market for a new contract. What term does he have left on his current deal a year? I don't think it would be wise to trade him now right before the season starts. Maybe in the offeason b4 the draft.

Yea problem is he's looking for 30-40 mill guaranteed most likely. He's a nice player and all but a single 1K season for a poverty franchise doesn't earn you that kind of contract. We've dolled this type of deal out time and again, 1st year GMs being slaves to "This is the only guy we got," and it's always a bad deal. Jakobi is a nice player but he's not that good...Jeevo wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 12:51 pm I think I’d extend him just short of $20, but I’d be looking to move on after this year.

I think in today’s market he is worth just under $20 but of course the terms are what make it a good or bad deal. He’s also a tough bastard and a team leader who was 73 and 820 the three previous years.NoThanksSir wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 12:54 pm Yea problem is he's looking for 30-40 mill guaranteed most likely. I think the players his agent is comping to do a lot more for their offense than Jakobi does. I think it totally makes sense from an agent/player perspective to push for these numbers but Jakobi isn't that kind of player. He can be replaced.Jeevo wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 12:57 pm I think in today’s market he is worth just under $20 but of course the terms are what make it a good or bad deal. You think our #1 WR wanting a trade a week before our 1st game is "not a big deal" smh!tatalalicious wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 12:52 pm Not a big deal, almost forgot he's in the market for a new contract. Some of you younger fans might want to waive your no trade clause and get out while you can. Around the 10 year mark, you are stuck being a fan of a team no matter how retched that team is for life. I am now 41 years since I saw a championship but I still cannot walk away, even with a far worse product due to the rules changes and this team run by Dufus.

Didn't we discuss the Stockholm Syndrome a few months back? Why yes, I do believe we did.Attyla wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 1:03 pm Some of you younger fans might want to waive your no trade clause and get out while you can. Meyers should have gone into the season and really played good and just become a FA in 2026…he will get paid elsewhere

Meyers is a lunchpale type of guy but he’s not a number 1 and dare I say this is why I want us to just grab Amari cooper (assuming he’s healthy) in the first place.
It’s making even more sense now bc you can’t convince me meyers is a better receiver.

Well the only other place we could draft someone to replace him was at #6 where we got Jeanty. We took WR in the 2nd.CWood24 wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 1:10 pm Hmmmm…. Meyers wants out i wish we had drafted a guy that might be able to replace him
Why wasn’t the team proactive in having a possible solution to this problem before it happened
I'd say most have us now have the Raiders not making the playoffs So with low expectations no need to make this a high-stress situation, just let it play out. Let this team gel together as much as they can and try to replace the loose ends next season, perhaps Jakobi will need to be replaced to. Or are most predicting 6 wins but still deep down thinking playoffs? It feels like a learning year.
That list of WR's a few above this, look at those WR's that signed their huge contract and are no longer with the team that made the mistake in doing so? Are GM's learning? Because this tells me WR's have been over paid. Perhaps Jakobi is getting caught in a market correction. He'd had been better off if his peers lived up to their contract vs diva'ing out even more in a number of cases. It's like you can't trust them, no?
