Regardless of how much of this mess is of Pete’s making, you know the poor guy is thinking what the Hell have I done, tarnishing my legacy with this team.

Yeah when you look at it, we've had a revolving door of coaches. At one time (except for that one time in the SB at the 1 yard line vs the Pats) he's generally been a very good coach.heavyD wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 9:47 am I don’t think Pete forgot to coach after one season off but the Raiders aren’t a finished product and I think he needs to be afforded more time before we can conclude that this was a bad hire. It’s concerning that the special teams have been terrible as well as the offensive line. That’s on him but if those areas improve over the course of the season it bodes well for next year as this organization badly needs a little bit of continuity.
I don't think its age, but there is something so odd about the Raiders. Player, coach, probably water boy too and suddenly the can't do their jobs.

It’s not the teams fault he hired his kid to be OL coach, decided Geno was a better option than Darnold etcRaider_Len wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 4:39 pm Regardless of how much of this mess is of Pete’s making, you know the poor guy is thinking what the Hell have I done, tarnishing my legacy with this team.
This is on Pete.
Seriously, many of the issues on this team point directly to coaching. Meredith at center. The worst special teams unit we’ve ever seen. Not making a QB switch???- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 5):

We need to keep him for the full contract. Hopefully he can build a good core by then. If does, then it gives us a shot to hire the next hotshot HC.
Harbaugh was never going to come here.
Johnson was never going to come here.
Both guys went to the teams they went to because they had QBs and a solid enough foundation to work with.
If we shitcan Carrol so quickly, we might as well start looking for HCs running prestigious high school teams.

Who's fault is that? He could have brought a competitive team out each game. Instead, Mr. "I have won 10 games the last twenty years" can't seem to field a competitive team. I realise we don't have the greatest talent, but we do have some of the best talant in the NFL... but Pete seems to not want to let them play for whatever reason/s???Raider_Len wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 4:39 pm Regardless of how much of this mess is of Pete’s making, you know the poor guy is thinking what the Hell have I done, tarnishing my legacy with this team.

The only thing the Raiders have going for them is the inertia they are still riding from the good ole days. There reaches a point where the younger generation of coaches do not associate the Raiders with that period of time because they were not around to experience it. To them the Raiders are no different the Cleveland Browns.
Why would Ben Johnson want to work for an owner that is a creep show candidate or a team that has been in the dregs of the NFL for decades.

Most of us knew this was likely going to start ugly. I’m holding out hope the team at some point starts playing together. “Nothing is ever as good as it seems nor as bad as it seems”.
Pete may well end his legacy in disgrace but I’ll let this season ride before bringing out the pitchforks.

Khaki Jim begged for the job in 2022. Mark turned him down for the McPatriot Way.Opoponax50 wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 5:49 pm We need to keep him for the full contract. Hopefully he can build a good core by then. If does, then it gives us a shot to hire the next hotshot HC.

I think PG will be the first scapegoat...I don't think he was thrilled with the massive turnover & being told to coach on the sidelines...he doesn't seem to give a shit at this point.

NY Times/The Athletic is reputable. It is not some Raiders Wire speculation or a guy on the ski slope.
