Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?
Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.
At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

Agreed.... but.... he's effective at what he does. I'll take it.rich72 wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 2:00 pm Maxx doesnt make those around him better which is something that bugs me about him. He is a finesse player that uses speed and leverage. He never beats up the opposing players, he just tricks them and runs past them. If you dont physically beat the opposing players down then they are still at full strength the entire game, and mildly frustrated.

I think normally when star players get traded - it’s either because the relationship has deteriorated and is unsalvageable, a contract negotiation that you can’t afford, or a really good trade offer. Often times, it’s all 3.
We’re not in that boat with Maxx at all And I have no idea why we’d sell Maxx on a firesale.
If he starts demanding a trade I guess you cross that bridge when you get there. But even if you get a 1st for him… you’re likely now desperately in need of a passrusher and probably not going to find another Crosby.
Assuming you can find another Crosby - there’s a money ball arguement to be made that you got the same production for much cheaper. But I’d argue that’s a pretty advanced personnel strategy for incompetent f[raiders_icon]cks like us that struggle to accomplish the basics of finding even average starters in the 1st.

There's also that fact that the Raiders have already played this game and have a sample size already. If we had kept Mack, we'd be a much better team with Mack and Crosby on the same line.raiders93 wrote: Fri Oct 10, 2025 8:13 pm Assuming you can find another Crosby - there’s a money ball arguement to be made that you got the same production for much cheaper. Make sense with the picks they got for Parsons. But going from Parsons to Maxx is a downgrade.

Oh for sure. But they'll likely be late picks. But if its two 1sts, I'm signing up for that all day.

Yep. At this point idc how low or high the picks are, this team needs talent period. We're clearly not going anywhere with or with out Maxx so why not get something for him while his value is high?BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Oct 21, 2025 10:22 am![]()

As horrible it is to relinquish top talent like Crosby I think it’s time for both where Maxx is in his career and us as an organisation to undergo extensive surgery that we explore a potential trade.
What I’m sure we’d like is this now sounded out in public and provokes a bidding war of which I hope we can come away with at least 2 1sts.
