Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?

Unread post by RunOverByHubbard »

Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.

At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

Bc there's no way they are offering two 1sts.

Jerry Jones is old. His offense is scoring a lot of points. This may be his last chance. He had issues with the agent of Parsons.

Maxx lines up quite often on the left side. We tend to focus on blind side pass rushers simply because of the advantage on that side, but Maxx does amazing work with the QB seeing him coming. I don't know what teams would offer for him, but I would do two 1st's for him and I am not a "trade Maxx" guy. But who he goes to is as important as what we get for him. Great teams are going to be low round picks, so if we trade him to a team like Green Bay it is almost 2nd round compensation (GB ain't going to trade for a DE just saying) vs a team like the Jags where we are pretty certain it is a top 10 pick. The better the team, the more I want for him if we deal him.

I have zero faith in this staff that they would make anything of the draft picks we would get. They scored with Jeanty and then instead of going offensive line, they go WR. Then they pick up two linemen in the 3rd and they don't play them.

Don't trade Maxx if you're going to f[raiders_icon]ck up the picks.

I would not consider most of them on the same level. Though it’s a list. Von Miller would be but was on the backside by that point.

I think Bradley Chubb was the more notable one.

Look, is Maxx a premier pass rusher? Absolutely. Is he a game wrecker? Unfortunately he's not. I'm not gonna go to the level of some on here who say he's overrated, bc he's not. But he's not on the same level as guys like Parsons, Garrett, Watt to name a few. I think Maxx is more known for his non stop motor than his production, which mind you, his sacks have fell off the last 2 years.

All of that is fine for whoever disagrees. But it's all irrelevant. Bc Maxx has no value on this team in 2025 and likely 2026. Zilch. Zero. Get what you can for him now before its too late.

Rickey seems legit, and I think waiting until the deadline potentially drives up the price. I think if he goes earlier it is because we are blown away by an offer.

Spurs Raider wrote: Tue Oct 21, 2025 10:26 am As horrible it is to relinquish top talent like Crosby I think it’s time for both where Maxx is in his career and us as an organisation to undergo extensive surgery that we explore a potential trade.

What I’m sure we’d like is this now sounded out in public and provokes a bidding war of which I hope we can come away with at least 2 1sts.

I can’t say I disagree—love Maxx but consider this: he could be the key reason the Raiders win some games down the stretch essentially sacrificing draft positioning to get a quarterback. It’s absurd that we even have to talk about like this as I'm always wanting to win however I understand the desperate need for a QB.

Mark should be ashamed. That would make two Hall of Fame-caliber defensive ends traded away in their prime during his tenure as owner. Pathetic.

At least this not a case of us keeping that motherf[raiders_icon]cker over our best player. This would be a "best for all parties" situation.

Has anything come out about the extent of Maxx's knee? Maybe another thing to consider is he's been dinged up the past few years. Is the wear & tear catching up to him? He's played a ton of ball during his career
