Have you seen this organization? I think the last few years have proven Carr wasn’t the problem.

It’s good that Kelly was fired. Not because it will change the season but it showed accountability.
He deserved to be fired for how the offense wasn’t performing.

I'm left grasping at straws like any other fan, but it seems to me that there is a severe disconnect going on inside of the building that has led to this prolonged mediocrity.
When Reggie came into the building there were no illusions about 'competing.' We were piss poor, and a strong front office vision assembled one of the better rosters we've had since 2002. That regime was not without criticism, it was dealing with legacy issues, namely coaches wanting nothing to do with the Raiders.
Acquiring that talent attracted the coaches, and we saw more significant names. Jack Del Rio was the transition coach, and Gruden started to sell off the pieces RM acquired to make his push around Carr.
Since Mckenzie first became the GM, we have never publicly acknowledged how bad we are. Every year it's "Compete." Carroll was talking out of both sides of his mouth, saying "This isn't a rebuild," but also saying we're, "Building a culture."
I'm not absolved of being bamboozled by this. I buy it every time. But we need to as an organization recognize we've reached the end of the road once again. There's close to nothing of value here. Trade everything and anything you can for a rookie QB, and court the best possible coach that the whole league is after. It's basically the last thing that we haven't tried. Dedicating ourselves to the suck and building things the right way just like Reggie did.

Now he's gone I have to say that I'm still a little surprised by how bad his offense was. This isn't a top offense in the league but how many teams have two TE's as good as Bowers and Mayer? Geno was serviceable in Seattle but he was total shit in Chip's offense. Jeanty and Mostert are solid. The WR's aren't great and clearly the OL hasn't helped but save for the first week of the season it's like the offense just never came together. The whole was less than the sum of the parts.
I stated before the season began that the team allowing Pete to hire his son to coach the OL was not a great idea. Clearly Spytec and the owners botched this one as it's blown up in their face. Pete hasn't fired his kid despite it being the worst coached position group on the team. It's going to take some time to get the Brennan Carroll stink off the OL so ideally they would have fired him to focus on fundamentals for the remainder of the season. Keeping him around is just going to stunt development.

We are about to learn if if was Geno and Jeanty or was it Chip? I expect both should show some improvement now that the switch has been madeheavyD wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 1:08 pm Now he's gone I have to say that I'm still a little surprised by how bad his offense was. Derek Carr was actually a good QB….he just never really had a very good defense when he was QB except for the last playoff season.erickench wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 12:23 pm Then how did Derek Carr throw for 4000 yards in four straight years? Olson utilizes his tight ends very well and we have one of the best tandems in the league with Bowers and Mayer.
The last good QB we had was Rich Gannon; and then Derek Carr….the thing is now is all Carr replacement have really been bad

Carr was mediocre. Had some good games. Some bad. Mostly average as hell. Yards between the 20s is where he made his money. Generally very poor in the red zone.SuperRaider wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 1:37 pm Derek Carr was actually a good QB….he just never really had a very good defense when he was QB except for the last playoff season.

Here we go again..............There is a thread where many would disagree and post numerous examples of why....Was he the only problem?No....But he was a HUGE part of it.RaiderandBulldog wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 1:04 pm Have you seen this organization? Olson would have put JPJ back at Center if he was healthy. Olson is not the most skilled OC but he serviceable for this type of situation..he's not an idiot like the rest of the offensive (line) staffOaktownonly wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 12:35 pm So our defense sucks. Our offense sucks. Olson will be irrelevant and suck.

I don’t think you can realistically expect them to change the play book, just too much info at this point in the season to try and absorb. Hell, even with a full offseason, some players don’t fully grasp it.
I do think you can get creative, ala the Chiefs, with some gimmick plays or even install a couple new plays every week.
New play book, not happening.
