Chicago's two headed monster at RB is going to be tough to defend down the stretch.

They added all 3 interior linemen I think and it’s paying dividends on both the ground and through the air. Lesson to be learned.ToastPatterson wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 4:01 pm Chicago's two headed monster at RB is going to be tough to defend down the stretch.

Heard from todays game announcers that only the the RT Wright was brought back from last year. The Raiders should revamp their line as such but they are desperately in need of a QB.Jeevo wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 8:12 pm They added all 3 interior linemen I think and it’s paying dividends on both the ground and through the air. The Raiders are in a bad way; just got too many cooks in the kitchen; you got Brady; Davis; Carroll and Spytek all trying to run the raiders their way…

The game last night and this discussion got me thinking, so I looked around a bit,...just an fyi, and pardon the all caps, as the Chromebook is a pia to go back and forth for something I didn't want to make more complicated than necessary.....
BEARS O-LINE
LT - THEO BENEDET........ UNDRAFTED,......... SIGHED FROM CANADIAN LEAGUE
LG- JOE THUNEY ..........3RD ROUND (78TH OVERALL)
ACQUIRED WITH 4TH ROUNDER FROM CHIEFS
C - DREW DALMAN.........4TH ROUND PICK (114TH OVERALL)
FREE AGENT
RG - JONAH JACKSON ......3RD ROUND PICK (75TH OVERALL)
TRADED TO BEARS FOR 6TH ROUND PICK FROM RAMS
RT - DARNELL WRIGHT - 1ST ROUND PICK (10TH OVERALL, BEARS)
....my take is that in addition to some smart trades, COACHING MATTERS

Doesn’t hurt having Caleb running your offense either. You know…like having an actual competent QbBoKnows81 wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 3:18 pm I think Ben Johnson and the playcalling is the main reason for that. But yes, having a revamped line certainly helps.

This is often overlooked imo. Plus the fact teams must honor the pass as they execute it well off play action.ToastPatterson wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 4:01 pm Chicago's two headed monster at RB is going to be tough to defend down the stretch.
A good running game opens up the passing game, and vice versa. A well thought out game plan, good coaching, unpredictable play calling and putting resources into your line pays dividends.
It is also not stated enough how much winning is infectious and rallies the team, as is the exact opposite of a perennial loser. Bears and Raiders are perfect examples.

With a young QB no matter how mobile, having a good pass blocking line is key. Having a solid TE also helps. But the run game is very often overlooked. Manning had Edge, Pollard and Dilger. That was huge for Manning after his rookie year. It did not help that Harrison was able to keep the defenses honest.

It shows not just that they have good coaching but that they evaluate talent well. We sign free agents and claim they are having a great preseason (Putnam) or that being a veteran they are plug and play (Cappa). When was the last steal we got in a trade? Or draft pick? We suck in both talent evaluation and in playbook schemes. We are up against it with Reid, Harbaugh, and Payton in our division. But maybe Carroll will come through like Payton did after a slow start. I doubt it but maybe. John Schneider (Seahawks long term GM) is not his right hand man anymore.

It also doesn't hurt building that team while he is on that rookie contract.Ocoordinator wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 4:42 am Doesn’t hurt having Caleb running your offense either. You know…like having an actual competent Qb

Unfortunately, we don't have a QB, can't draft for shit no matter how good the draft picks are (Cle, Wilson), suck at signing FA's (Parra, Tickle boy, Chandler), hire horrible coaches and bad GM's, and do not have home field advantage. Everything else is good.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 6:50 am It shows not just that they have good coaching but that they evaluate talent well. 280 rushing yards. 144 passing yards. I’ll take even Geno could have quarterbacked that winOcoordinator wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 4:42 am Doesn’t hurt having Caleb running your offense either. You know…like having an actual competent Qb
