Pete Carrol appreciation thread
I think we need to come to grips with the fact that Pete is on the precipice of accomplishing what others before him failed to do, Dennis Allen, Del Rio, Gruden 2.0, McDaniiels, AP, all tried their damnedest to get us to the promised land but Pete by golly has actually done it (almost). Just one more game to go.
Art Shell 2.0 gave us this gift just like he gave us a SB ring but his efforts were for not as the bounty was spoiled by purple drank. Let us hope that the hard work and dedication to this lofty accomplishment will not go unrewarded by the football gods this time. If we walk away with a franchise QB who will lead us out of these doldrums, I for one will be offer a debt of gratitude to Coach Pete for never giving up or giving in on his quest to drive this tank right into the ground, Thanks Pete for not firing your son or benching Geno. Absolute genius.

We have entered the "weird time" season for the Raiders.
Weird time happens every year, a time when we owe people apologizes and every free agent just naturally wants to play for the Raiders but nobody wants to coach the Raiders.

Yes but the big difference this year of course is that an incoming coach can pick his QB, or will have an opportunity to mold a young potential franchise QB—not to mention the 100 million in cap space. You have a generational Tight end in place for your young QB, and a solid running game once you build the Oline. If I’m the incoming Coach, I say, give me three seasons and we’ll be competing for Superbowls. Then we wait and be patient, which I know as a fanbase is a tough ask at this juncture. As long as the Coach is making good decisions and showing progress, especially with the QB development, year over year is all I ask and can hope for.Attyla wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 10:46 am We have entered the "weird time" season for the Raiders.

Many casuals on Twitter don’t understand the normalcy of how a good football team is built, they see outliers like Jayden McDaniels and think that is the norm when most of the fans on this board understand the process when it is done right. I would have been ok with Pete coming back one more year if he had involved the rookie Olineman, Bech, and the defensive tackles into the gameplan early, and asked his son to step down from Oline coach. But the real self inflicting wound for him was betting his job on Geno. It’s unfortunate but we really don’t have a choice but to ask him to retire or show him the door on Monday. Someone said Pete is like Philip Rivers in the head coaching position, I think he’s more like Al, where the game has just passed him by.

Coach Pete is a class act. Two Natty's and a Super Bowl. Unfortunately he probably isn't up to the task at his age. It's going to take someone like a like young Jon Gruden.
Young with tenacity, energy to burn and great with QB's. And most importantly he needs to eradicate the organizational "victim" mentality like it were there the plague, because it is.
Ohh, he will also need a QB. We are watching that QB shred Bama as I write this (I hope).

I would appreciate it if Pete would step down.

I was trying to think back of one thing Pete has made better this year to give him props on that. But can't think of one part of the team that didn't regress. And honestly can't really think of many good plays. So no. I have no appreciation for Pete.
