Bye Geno
It is time to just say it, you are gone and while i had hope you could do the job, you could not, so when you leave, make sure you take some towels and some mini shampoos with as a parting present. Compliments of the house.

If we bring in a vet backup for Mendoza's rookie season, IMO the focus should be on mentoring and not on playing. I don't care if the backup can play worth a shit - I only care that he helps develop our investment. I want a guy who's cerebral, organized and dedicated to help the kid along.

I don't want to see Geno any where near here, especially mentoring Mendoza. New regime, clean slate.Viper wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 5:10 am I can see a scenario where Geno is here next year to “mentor” our new Qb. AOC is still on the cheap and I think he stays, too. The thought could be to address the O line which not only helps whoever we trot out at Qb, but also helps Jeanty from having contact literally half a second after getting the ball.
I don’t think we should throw a rookie Qb out there week one and in the same breath I’m not advocating keeping Geno. Acquiring him has put us in a very bad position.
I seen Mariota's name floating around. Why not AOC. Give a month to start, then turn it over to Mendoza.

The line last year could protect much better then this years oline. Yes they were average at their best last year, this years oline was the worst ive seen since becoming a fan in 1981. Geno was just a probowler in 2023 and in 2024 had 4300 yards, 70%. Ill be clear, I dont want Geno, hes old and isnt a good plan moving into a complete overhaul of this team, but we need to consider reality, the Blame has to go more to Brennan the Oline coach who never got the oline to understand their assignments and the group was often lost on plays with some players completely moving in the wrong direction to what was called... So this also puts blame on Pete for hiring and keeping him. Then next id put more of the blame on Cappa (shit), Meredith (shit), Parham (shit), Glaze (shit) all turnstiles. It was utterly disgusting to watch. As the season goes on of course every QB would be affected the same way and just wanna go down to protect themselves, if we had a top five oline Geno would of most likely performed like he did in game 1, we can't be sure, but it makes sense. Too much is blamed on Geno, he could perform if given a good O line. Brennan is trash, Pete was trash, oline was trash. Put yourself in Genos position, you'd be scared shitless with that oline letting defensive players immediately in our backfield, also ass raping Jeanty in the back field.. Our coaches didnt do their job to protect geno. That said, i wish Geno luck, bye byeCorleone wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:20 pm this line was pretty average last year. Geno and Pete's boy defintitely made it worse.

We are in a better situation this time around. When we drafted our last starting QB in round 2 we had major issues with our cap and the draft picks were just then getting back to normal. Now we have a healthy cap number and a lot of picks to use, so we should be able to get his line up to snuff pretty quickly, this may be one of the times when overspending is the right thing to do. Not a ton but all I can say is maybe my luck is changing when it comes to this damn team lol

I don’t want him near Mendoza either, but I can see the scenario still. It’s not like we don’t make stupid decisions.raiderjohn wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 9:23 am I don't want to see Geno any where near here, especially mentoring Mendoza. New regime, clean slate.

I’d be cool with AOC out there

I think AOC is a better solution to CousinsOpoponax50 wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 9:14 am Keep Geno far way from Mendoza. I've never seen a bigger Eor on the sidelines. I'd bring in Cousins if he's available.

The Raiders OL was not the worst pass blocking OL in the NFL. Geno just made it look that way. Smith was the worst starting QB over the 2025 NFL season because he’s no good, end of story.

He's definitely gone with Pete fired. I can't see anyone else in the building wanting him on the roster

Doesnt the line have the honor of being the worst run blocking line this year?heavyD wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 10:34 am The Raiders OL was not the worst pass blocking OL in the NFL. How to fix the QB situation for every team in need of a QB
1. Raiders draft Mendoza
2. Jets get Moore
3. Cards and Miami swap QBs
4. Browns continue to play that waste of space Sanders
5. Colts resign Jones
6. Steelers trade for Geno, we get their 4th
7. Saints draft Simpson (if he comes out) or stick with Shough if he does not
Everyone is happy except the Cards, Miami, Browns and Steelers, which makes me happy.

Geno's got guaranteed salary, so the earliest he can be officially released is when FA starts (it's because of the way cap accounting is done with guaranteed salary accelerating, and the books being closed on the current year).RickRyb wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 3:51 pm I'll rephrase - Can Geno be dropped at the earliest time or do The Raiders e to wait until June 1?
Also given the structure of his deal, cutting him results in the same dead money allocation as a straight cut, so there's no point to that.
Likely we get a "Raiders will release Geno when the new league year starts" type of message at some point.
