Nevada court clears way for Gruden to sue NFL
Sweet.
A Nevada court cleared the way Monday for a 2021 lawsuit filed by former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden to proceed against the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell, alleging that a “malicious and orchestrated campaign” was used to destroy Gruden’s career by leaking old emails he had sent that included racist, misogynistic and homophobic comments.
Would love to see the emails from Rog and the other owners to Davis to dump Gru.
And can we see all of Danny boys emails to other owners and to the league?

I think this is retaliation for Gruden, the money is about hurting the NFL the only way he can.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 11:54 am Im not sure how any of this clears his name. He isn't contesting that they were all his. He got caught. Money grab nothing more.

I don't think the money will hurt the NFL as much as the information released if it goes to court. I suspect that part of the argument is that Gruden was targeted while similar inappropriate communications of others were ignored, and to prove that you would have to uncover similar inappropriate communications of many others. I haven't looked at the actual details of the case, and I'm not a lawyer so might not even understand a lot of it, so this is just my assumption based on some stories written by sportswriters who probably don't know shit either. So I could be way off.Trainnvain wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 12:06 pm I think this is retaliation for Gruden, the money is about hurting the NFL the only way he can.

Yes, I agree. The money is secondary to embarrassing the NFL as much as possible. The cash would be one final middle finger.chucker wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 12:10 pm I don't think the money will hurt the NFL as much as the information released if it goes to court. I actually think there is a strong number of people that are rooting for the boogie man killer. And in this case, the boogie man is the league. I actually am hoping that the boogie man is not the league. If the league gets hurt, my entertainment gets hurt. I want my entertainment. I want the boogie man to remain Gruden. If Gruden gets hurt, life goes on. I am selfish like that.
And I don't actually care if the league gets a slap on the wrist or not. I want the product to remain as unblemished as possible. I want the conspiracy theories to be wrong every time. I want the product to be above reproach. And that is so I can continue to cheer for the product without question. And that is because I am selfish.

- Jon Gruden wins a lawsuit against the NFL
- One more tally mark against Goodell which hopefully contributes to his removal.
- We get a chance at a decent commissioner who won't further tarnish the game

“Meh” for either side. The only thing that would interest me would be if more inflammatory emails from other NFL folk came out. Weed out (or more likely merely shame…barely), the folk stupid enough to stupid via company email.

Goodell has taken the NFL to heights they never dreamed of. He isn't going anywhere. What are you wanting a commissioner to do differently?Arsenal Raider wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 4:35 pm Potential scenario:

I get your broader point, but by which metrics are you defining "heights they never dreamed of"? Profits? Viewership? I'm sure the league is happy with him, but that doesn't mean I should be as a fan.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 4:58 pm Goodell has taken the NFL to heights they never dreamed of. If profits are at an all time high because of Taylor Swift, International games, and overly complex broadcasting & advertising partnerships... then I'm not sure that's a trade off worth it to most pure football fans.
Thankfully the game is still pretty good on its own, but everything surrounding it has become extremely bloated (especially compared to previous decades.)

He can sue the NFL all he wants but him resigning was a blessing for him because he was f[raiders_icon]cking atrocious second time round
Raiders should be suing Gruden for impersonating a coach

Great moment for the Raiders. If not for this we would still be stuck with him for years.CWood24 wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 5:39 pm He can sue the NFL all he wants but him resigning was a blessing for him because he was f[raiders_icon]cking atrocious second time round

I don't really give a shit who the commissioner is, I'm just having fun with the premise of having someone new take over. This is not my quote, but someone once called Goodell a "clueless, anti-football pussy"FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 5:20 pm Come on Taylor Swift. Couple things to do differently:
First thing, immediately eliminate Thursday Night Football and all International Games. Both of these are clearly prioritizing profit and expansion while sacrificing the quality of the product.
Get rid of the big goofy helmet covers and bring back the giant old school shoulder pads
Revert the kickoff rules back to how they were 20 years ago.
Keep the new overtime playoff rules, they're a good change.
- Commissioner should have to sumo wrestle against the head of the player's association every year, stakes yet to be determined.

Who knew it was the first sliding-door/moment of good luck that would lead us to Doofus gettin’ out of the driver’s seat and Tom-Spytek-CoachK-Mendo.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 5:52 pm Great moment for the Raiders. If not for this we would still be stuck with him for years.
We had to watch a few more parades of idiots in positions of leadership, but hey, after 20 to 30 years, here we are. And holy shit do we deserve it.
